    摘要: A machine and method of operation are disclosed for continuously molding solid pellets from a mud composition. In a specific application, the machine is useful for producing an oxidation catalyst in pellet form. The machine includes a rotatable disk having small openings therein, which provide mold cavities. As the disk is rotated, the mud composition is injected into the mold openings through an injection head, which rides against the front face of the disk. The mud is retained in each mold opening by a backing plate, which rides against the back face of the disk. Ambient air is passed through a heater located at the top of a housing which partially encloses the disk. The heated air is circulated downwardly on both sides of the disk to dry the mud in the mold openings. An ejection head is positioned such that it rides against the front face of the rotating disk at a point behind the injection head. Pressurized air is forced through air passages in the ejection head, which register with the mold openings. The air ejects the dried pellets, and they fall into a collection chute on the back side of the disk.

    摘要: A method of preparing acrolein and methacrolein by oxidation of propylene and isobutylene over a new improved catalyst providing conversions and yields, each greater than 90% in a single-pass reactor. The improved catalyst contains within certain prescribed proportions the oxides of cobalt, iron, bismuth, molybdenum, potassium, and optionally silicon. The metals have atomic ratios ofCo.sub.3-10 Fe.sub.0.5-3.0 Bi.sub.0.5-3.0 Mo.sub.15 K.sub.0.01-0.5 Si.sub.0.5-3.0and are present in the form of oxides as pellets, spheres, or on a support. With a recycle system, a conversion of the olefin greater than 99% and yield to the aldehyde of greater than 95% are possible.

    摘要: A coating composition is described that is comprised of (1) polyacrylate fibers, (2) at least one monomer which forms an acrylic polymer, (3) styrene monomer, (4) unsaturated polyester resin, (5) a polymerization inhibitor (to prevent premature polymerization prior to application), and (6) an inert carrier in which each acrylic polymer-forming monomer and the styrene monomer are soluble. The inert carrier described and the miscible/soluble components form a medium wherein polyacrylate fiber suspension is easily achieved and maintained. The coating composition can be used as a base coat or primer without need for finishing prior to application of an overcoat of paint.
