    摘要： A method and apparatus for a drilling with casing includes therewith a drill shoe configured for later drilling through thereof in situ, with cutters retainable thereon in response to the forces encountered during borehole drilling, yet moveable from the envelope through which the later drill shoe will pass when cutting through the in situ drill shoe. The drill shoe includes one or more profiles thereon, into which blades carrying the formation drilling cutters are disposed. The profiles include at least one projection thereon, which is received within a mating slot in the blades. The blades also may be configured to have opposed sections which are configured with respect to one another to have an included angle of less than ninety degrees.

In one aspect the invention provides safety improvements that only allow operation of the chipper when the mower is below a predetermined threshold ride height. In another aspect, the mower includes one or more side skirts to prevent body parts from entering the cutting zone under the mower. In a still further aspect, the mower has a rear flap including a sub-flap. The mower is arranged so that the sub flap remains closed when a catcher is installed.

    摘要： A tool for scribing a longitudinal groove on an elongate cylindrical rod suitable for implanting as a prosthetic in a living being supports the rod in a linear groove on a bed of a frame of the tool. A track is mounted on the frame and runs parallel to the groove. A carrier mounted on the track can slide on the track in constant spaced relation to and along the groove. A scribe mounted on the carrier extends toward the groove to contact a rod in the predetermined position. A preferred version of the tool has a clamp mounted on the bed for clamping the rod in the predetermined position. Additional features allow for precise angular positioning of the rod and for scribing a dashed line on the rod. In use, the tool operator places the rod in the predetermined position in the groove. The scribe is then pressed into contact with the rod. While the scribe is in pressed contact with the rod, the operator slides the carrier along the track.

    摘要： A seabed anchor (20) is fixed to and deployable from an ROV (10) for positively anchoring the ROV (10) to the seabed (100). The seabed anchor (20) comprises three nested telescoping tubes (26, 28, & 30). The upper end of the outermost tube (26) is fixed to the ROV (10). A rotary drill bit (38) is carried on the output shaft of a motor (34) that is mounted on the lower end of the innermost tube (30). The nested assembly of three telescopic tubes (26, 28, 30) can be controllably extended and retracted by controlled operation of a hydraulic ram or other linear actuator coupled between the outer tube (26) and the inner tube (30). Each of the tubes (26, 28 & 30) carries a respective one or two pairs of inflatable packets (40, 42, & 44) that are normally uninflated and lie quiescent within respective recesses in the sides of the tubes where the packers do not interfere with telescopic relative movements of the tubes. To set the seabed anchor (20), the drill bit (38) is rotated and forced downwards into the seabed (100) to form a bore. When the bore is at its full depth, the packers (40, 42, & 44) are inflated to force the packers into penetrating engagement with the seabed (100) surrounding the bore, thereby anchoring the ROV (10) to the seabed (100). The seabed anchor (20) allows the ROV (10) to be firmly anchored onto the seabed (100) to resist upward reaction forces arising from ROV-carried geotechnical tools and/or sensors (e.g. a soil sampling tool) being made to penetrate the seabed (100). The seabed anchor (20) is particularly useful for ROVs which are neutrally buoyant or slightly positively buoyant, and which therefore have negligible weight (when fully submerged) for holding them down onto the seabed against upward reaction forces.

    摘要： A method for communicating data in a rail vehicle consist includes transmitting first data at a first rail vehicle of the consist over a power supply conductor to a second, different rail vehicle in the consist, where at least one rail vehicle of the consist receives direct electrical power from the power supply conductor. The method also includes monitoring the power supply conductor for second data at the first rail vehicle and receiving the second data over the power supply conductor at the first rail vehicle for use by a first system onboard the first rail vehicle. In one aspect, the transmitting step comprises transmitting the first data over one or more of a catenary line or a third rail that supplies the electrical power.
