    摘要: A process for recovering bitumem from oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions is disclosed wherein water soluble demulsifiers are used. These demulsifiers are water soluble polyethers prepared by the reaction between certain diepoxides and poly(ethyleneoxy) glycols. To resolve the bituminous petroleum emulsions, the process is carried out between 25.degree. and 160.degree. C. wherein the demulsifier of the invention is contacted with the bituminous emulsion.

    摘要: The use of methylene azelaic acid having the formula CH.sub.2 .dbd.C--[(CH.sub.2).sub.3 --COOH].sub.2 or an alkali metal salt thereof in glycol and water based automotive antifreeze formulations is described. Unlike natural dicarboxylic acids such as sebacic acid, methylene azelaic acid does not form a precipitate and drop out of solution, rendering the antifreeze unprotected against corrosion. The methylene azelaic acid component should be present in an amount of from 1.5 to 4.5 wt. % based on the glycol component.

    摘要: A corrosion-inhibited antifreeze composition is disclosed. Specifically, the antifreeze composition comprises a major portion of a liquid alcohol freezing point depressant and a minor portion of at least one hydroxyl-substituted aromatic carboxylic acid having the hydroxyl radical disposed proximate to the carboxylic radical. The above described acid is employed as a corrosion inhibitor. Other conventional corrosion inhibitors may be employed in conjunction with the acids.In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a process for inhibitig the corrosion of metals present in the cooling system of an internal combustion engine which comprises intimately contacting the metal surface to be inhibited against corrosion with the antifreeze composition described above. Most preferably, the target substrate is high lead solder.
