摘要: In a co-rotational scroll apparatus having two interleaving scroll wraps secured to end plates rotating about parallel, non-concentric axes, a precharging device affixed to one end plate and substantially enclosing the scroll wraps and the second end plate. Preferably, the precharging device includes a cup-shaped drive housing secured to one end plate and enclosing the scroll wraps, and a flexible torque-transmitting member connecting between the enclosure member and the second end plate. Apertures are provided in the enclosure member to permit fluid flow into the space enclosed by the enclosure device, with vanes disposed adjacent the apertures to force fluid into the enclosed space during rotation of the scroll wraps. Fluid thus forced into the enclosed space is precharged prior to entering the scroll wraps, being at higher pressure than fluid exterior the enclosed space, improving the operating efficiency of the scroll apparatus.

摘要: In a co-rotating scroll apparatus wherein one scroll is a drive scroll and the other scroll is an idler scroll, an axial pressure balancing mechanism and means for discharge pressure balancing is disclosed. The drive scroll wrap is provided with an end plate having a plurality of extension members extending thereform. The extension members extend through corresponding slots in an Oldham coupling ring to drive the idler scroll in relative orbital rotation. The extension members further extend through clearance slots in the end plate of the idler scroll to secure a compression plate and spring biasing the end plate of the idler scroll toward the drive scroll to provide improved axial compliance between the scrolls. Means for axial pressure balancing of the idler scroll shaft and the drive scroll drive shaft are disclosed. The apparatus also includes axial thrust bearings for preventing axial oscillations of the drive and idler scrolls.

摘要: In a compressor of the hermetic, scroll-type, a motor engaging drive shaft having a net axial thrust load determined by the pressure of compressed fluid acting upon the opposing ends of the shaft. In the preferred embodiment, the shaft includes a first end in the discharge pressure portion providing a first plan view area and a second end in the suction pressure portion having a circular, eccentrically disposed cavity with a second plan view area. The shaft has an axial bore for communicating refrigerant at discharge pressure through the shaft between the respective ends such that refrigerant at discharge pressure acts in opposite directions upon both of the respective plan view areas to balance the net thrust load of the shaft.

摘要: In a scroll compression apparatus having an orbiting scroll, a frame with a pressure regulation chamber adjacent the orbiting scroll wherein the frame includes a spring biased annular seal and a pressure responsive device in a discharge aperture through the frame for maintaining constant pressure in the pressure regulation chamber. Preferably, the frame includes an annular groove of rectangular cross-section accommodating a relatively smaller annular seal also of rectangular cross-section. An annular seal spring having a first planar surface and a second planar surface is disposed in the annular channel to bias the annular seal. The pressure responsive device has a first element exposed to discharge fluid pressure and a second element exposed to fluid at suction pressure such that the pressure differential serves to operate a piston for increasing or decreasing the flow area of the discharge aperture from the pressure regulation chamber.

摘要: An improved hermetic motor compressor is disclosed which incorporates an improved discharge muffler arrangement wherein the discharge muffler is intergrated with an end portion of the shell and remote from the driving motor whereby heating of the discharge gas by the motor is substantially eliminated and a relatively large surface area is provided to transfer heat to the surrounding atmosphere. Additionally, the compressor incorporates an improved lubrication system wherein in one embodiment a pressure responsive valved vent is provided for the substantially closed crankcase and operates to create a pressure differential between an oil sump and the upper end of an oil distribution passage thereby improving lubricant flow to the bearings as well as providing means for returning lubricant from the crankcase to the sump. In another embodiment a rotating valved vent is provided which operates to selectively place this upper end of an oil distribution passage in communication with the crankcase.

摘要: The primary and secondary core sections of a split core transformer forming an inductive coupler are secured within separate sealed containments in intimate contact with a thin non-magnetic portion of the respective containments which permits inductive coupling and decoupling of the primary and secondary core sections in corrosive fluid environments such as water. The sealed containments isolate the core sections from contact with the corrosive environment thus permitting the use of efficient laminated iron in otherwise corrosive environments.

摘要: A small single cylinder hermetic refrigeration compressor has a flat valve plate extending across the end of the cylinder. A discharge port is formed in the valve plate with a spherical valve seat and a spherical poppet member is moveable to and from the valve seat. A flat leaf spring and valve stop member fit over the poppet to control its motion and the spherical head of the popper, when closed, extends beyond the surface of the valve plate in alignment with a mating recess on the piston head to minimize the clearance space of the compressor.

摘要: A remote access manipulator for performing operations on equipment located in areas where human access is limited. The manipulator comprises a slave carriage located in the equipment on which the operation is to be performed, such as a nuclear steam generator, for carrying tools and inspection devices for performing operations on the equipment together with a master carriage located in a scale model of the equipment and electrically connected to the slave carriage for controlling the movement of the slave carriage. The slave carriage comprises a five link mechanism with the links rotatably connected and is capable of advancing across a surface of the equipment to position the devices which it carries. The manipulator further comprises a slave manipulator arm used to move the slave carriage into and out of the equipment on which the operation is to be performed in conjunction with a master manipulator arm located in the scale model for controlling the movement of the slave manipulator arm.
