Abstract:
The invention relates to a roll stand for hot-rolling or cold-rolling metallic strips. The roll stand comprises back-up rolls and work rolls (2, 3; 4, 5) which are respectively positioned in chocks (6; 7) in a rotating manner. Each chock (6; 7) can be displaced on two sides in guiding devices (8) of the column frame (9) for adjusting the roll gap (10) and can be additionally displaced on at least one side for adjusting the play, by means of horizontal piston cylinder units (11) arranged in the column frame (9). The aim of the invention is to completely eliminate the play in the vertical guiding device (8) of the work roll chocks (6; 7) during the rolling. To this end, the chocks which are guided on at least one side of the column (9a) by means of the piston cylinder unit (11) arranged in the column frame (9) and by means of one respective support element (14) which is arranged on the front side of the piston (11a), can be pressed against the other side of the column (9b) and the guiding device (8) thereof without play when the vertical roll positioning drive is stopped. and can be released when the vertical roll positioning device is switched on.
Abstract:
A process for regrinding the rolls installed in hot-strip roll stands using rotating pot-shaped grinding tools which are movable in an oscillating manner parallel to the roll axis. The grinding tool is fastened to the end of a grinding shaft which is driven in rotation so as to be axially displaceable transversely to the roll, guided coaxially in a grinding sleeve and connected at its opposite end with a displacing drive supported directly at the housing. The contact pressing force of the grinding tools at the roll is applied by compressed air which is supplied to the displacing drives. The air pressure, which is preset corresponding to the desired contact pressing force, is changed within a narrow range until the torques of all grinding tools or of one of the grinding tools measured at the drive motors for the grinding tools which are driven in rotation are identical and constant.
Abstract:
To substantially increase the periods of time between the changing of rolling segments and to reduce the amount of work connected therewith in a roll stand for a planetary rolling mill, chocks in which stationary support bodies having rolling segments are mounted are provided with a square or octagonal disk shape, and each support body, instead of having one rolling segment as known heretofore, is provided with four or eight rolling segments distributed uniformly on its periphery. A turnable rolling ring is, further, provided at each end of each support body.
Abstract:
A metal casting device employs a number of pairs of mold members which can be opened or closed with respect to each other. The mold chamber pairs cooperate, in their closed state, to form a linear mold chamber. In order to compensate for shrinkage as the metal cools, the mold member pairs are movably supported by an endless chain, with the pairs of cooperating mold members being provided with contact faces having the same angle of inclination. Each mold member pair is also equipped with supporting rollers with which the associated mold chamber section can be closed or opened, as required.
Abstract:
A twin-belt continuous casting mold has a mold chamber which is formed of parallel length portions of cooled upper and lower casting belts as well as parallel length portions of endless side dams which bound the mold chamber laterally. In the zone of the mold chamber the side dams are backed by adjustable guide rails. The continuous caster further has upper and lower caster frames which respectively support the end drums for the upper and lower casting belts as well as a series of support rollers for backing up the casting belts. There are further provided seals which are in engagement with the casting belts and which serve for sealing off the mold chamber from the environment. Opposite longitudinal edges of each casting belt are approximately flush with the outer wall faces of the respective side dams and the casting belt support rollers are shorter than the distance between the outer wall faces of the two side dams. The seals are situated laterally adjacent the support rollers and are resiliently supported.
Abstract:
A supporting or intermediate roll in rolling mills for rolling flat rolling stock, in particular strip material, having a cylindrical roll core and a tubular sleeve which is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to said roll core, engages coaxially around the same and between which and the roll core there are arranged hydraulically axially displaceable supporting bodies which support the roll sleeve against the roll core. In this case, the supporting bodies are formed with at least two annular pistons, which are arranged symmetrically in relation to the roll center and are sealed in relation to the roll core and the inside of the roll sleeve, and include a plurality of annular supporting bearings, which are arranged on the outer circumference of the pistons, are spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the roll and against which the inner surface of the roll sleeve can be positioned.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a roll stand for a planetary rolling mill having roll housings, stationary support bodies which are mounted on insert pieces, which have at least one rolling segment inserted therein, with hardened segment inserts, and intermediate and work rolls mounted in cages and rotating around the support bodies. Upon their rotation around the support bodies, these rolls are brought against the intermediate rolls and the latter are brought against the support bodies. The rolling surface of the rolling segments is formed by the segment inserts which have a flattened cross-sectional shape, in the region of the shaping zone, differing from the circular cross sectional shape of the support bodies having a rolling surface which can vary in position with respect to the support body by displacement of the segment inserts, individually or in groups, in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the support body.
Abstract:
Described is a coil collecting station for wire-rod mill trains with a coil collecting chamber consisting of a pre-collector, collecting pin and limiting cage, in which at least two collecting pins can be brought alternatively into a loading and/or discharging position by means of swing movements. The enveloping diameter of the collecting pin in the loading position is variable with respect to its diameter in its discharging position for a wire coil wound up thereon. For this purpose, said collecting pin consists of a plurality of pin rods, some of which being fixed and the other ones being supported radially movably with respect to said fixed pin rods.
Abstract:
A feeding device for introducing molten steel into a twin-belt caster having mold walls which move exclusively in the casting direction. The feeding device comprises: a casting unit including a pouring pipe having a mouthpiece at one end which can extend between and form a sealing gap with the mold walls of a twin-belt caster, a first carriage moveable toward and away from a twin-belt caster and having the pouring pipe mounted thereon so that the pouring pipe is rotatable about a horizontal pivot axis and is laterally adjustable transversely to its longitudinal extent; a tundish mounted on a second carriage, which is disposed upstream of the first carriage and is independently moveable toward and away from the first carriage, so that the tundish is adjustable in height; and a compensating pipe for connecting the outlet of the tundish to the other end of the pouring pipe to permit molten steel to flow from the tundish through the pouring pipe. The compensating pipe has respective sealing surfaces at its opposed ends which respectively engage correspondingly shaped sealing surfaces on the other end of the pouring pipe and at the outlet of the tundish in a manner such that the engaging sealing surfaces are moveable relative to one another. The engaging sealing surfaces between the pouring pipe and the compensating pipe preferably form a ball joint and the engaging sealing surfaces between the compensating pipe and the tundish form a further ball joint or are two planar surfaces.
Abstract:
For the purpose of monitoring the casting belts during operation of the caster to detect damage or faults to the casting belts, a plurality of ultrasonic testing units, which are stationary with respect to the direction of rotation of the casting belts and which are each designed as to transmit/receive unit, are associated with each casting belt.
