Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a method for communicating inbound network data to provide QoS. The method includes receiving data over a network at a node, prioritizing the data at the node by assigning a priority to the data, and communicating the data to an application at the node based at least in part on the priority of the data. The data priority is based at least in part on message content. Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a system for communicating inbound networking data to provide QoS. The system includes a data prioritization component adapted to prioritize data by assigning a priority to the data and a data communications component adapted to receive the data over a network and to communicate the data to an application based at least in part on the priority of the data. The system includes at least one sampler including a body having a hollow interior accessed through holes in the body and optionally a slide which can selectively cover and expose the holes in the body. A stand is provided made of a base and a floor. The base includes at least one recess therein. The recess is configured to support the sampler therein so that the sampler can be held by the stand while sampling an airspace at a particular location. The floor can be separated at least partially from the base in a removably attachable fashion to provide selective access to a hollow inside. A sampler can be placed within this hollow inside space and resealed so that the stand doubles as a shipping container for the sampler after collection of an air sample.

The present invention relates to agriculture. More particularly, the invention relates to a method of increasing photosynthesis of a plant and more particularly of crop plants. In addition, the invention relates to a method of increasing photosynthesis and/or yield in crop plants, comprising an exposure thereof to lipo-chitooligosaccharides, and compositions therefor. Further, the invention relates to an agricultural composition for enhancing a plant crop photosynthetic rate and/or growth thereof comprising a photosynthetic rate-promoting amount of at least one lipo chitooligosaccharide (LCO) together with an agriculturally suitable carrier and methods using same.

Certain embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for data communication. Certain embodiments provide a method including temporarily holding data being transmitted, determining a sequence of the data based at least on data priority and metering transmission of the data based on at least one user-specified metering criterion to provide a level of quality of service in transmitting the data. Certain embodiments provide a computer-readable medium having a set of instructions for execution on a processing device. The set of instructions includes a holding routine for temporarily holding data being transmitted, a sequencing routine for determining a sequence of the data based on at least one sequencing criterion, and a metering routine for metering a flow of the data based on at least one metering criterion to provide a level of quality of service in transmitting the data.

Certain embodiments of the present invention provide for a system and method for preserving bandwidth in data networks. The method includes determining whether to perform functional redundancy processing for a current data set. Determining whether to perform functional redundancy processing for a current data set may be conducted according to redundancy rules. In performing functional redundancy processing, the method includes searching at least one queue for a data set that is functionally redundant to the current data set. The searching may be conducted according to redundancy rules. If a queued data set is found to be functionally redundant to the current data set, the queued data set may be dropped from the queue and the current data set added to the queue. In such a manner, functionally redundant messages are dropped prior to transmission and bandwidth is optimized.

A new type of high-Q variable capacitor includes a substrate, a first electrically conductive layer fixed to the substrate, a dielectric layer fixed to a portion of the electrically conductive layer, and a second electrically conductive layer having an anchor portion and a free portion. The anchor portion is fixed to the dielectric layer and the free portion is initially fixed to the dielectric layer, but is released from the dielectric layer to become separated from the dielectric layer, and wherein an inherent stress profile in the second electrically conductive layer biases the free portion away from the a dielectric layer. When a bias voltage is applied between the first electrically conductive layer and the second electrically conductive layer, electrostatic forces in the free portion bend the free portion towards the first electrically conductive layer, thereby increasing the capacitance of the capacitor.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an improved acoustic fluid emission head, e.g. an acoustic ink printhead, and a method of forming or assembling same. More particularly, the invention is directed to an acoustic ink printhead that advantageously incorporates elastomer gaskets to replace all epoxy joints in the printhead and a corrugated spacer to provide focal gap control in the printhead. A related method for manufacturing the printhead includes folding and spot welding the aperture plate of the printhead to maintain the elastomer gaskets in place and, consequently, control the focal gap.

A triaxial electrical connecter for terminating a triaxial electrical cable. The connector (10) is manufactured to comprise five major components including a center contact (21), intermediate and outer shell subassemblies (22,23), an intermediate ferrule (24) and a bushing (26), which can be easily assembled and attached to the end of a triaxial cable (12). The center contact (21) and the intermediate and outer shell subassemblies (22,23) include captivation structure for automatically aligning the components with respect to one another during the assembly process. The intermediate and outer shell subassemblies (22,23) include intermediate and outer contacts (41,71) and intermediate and outer insulating members (42,72) which are adapted to be press-fit into their respective contacts (41,71) for easy preassembly of the subassemblies (22,23) without specialized tools.
