摘要: Disclosed is an improved protective pad for protecting the human body against impact forces. The pad is formed using layers of high density closed-cell polymer foam low density closed-cell polymer foam, and resilient or non-resilient energy absorbing inserts. The high density layer absorbs and shunts impact forces, while the low density layer acts as a cushion against the human body, and provides for comfort. The pad can be provided with a plurality of holes through its thickness to provide for breathability and release of heat from the human body, the surface area of the holes being great enough to allow for adequate ventilation but not so great as to significantly decrease the protection offered by the pad. The pad can also be provided with a plurality of score lines across its surface and partially through its thickness to provide for flexibility and conformability to the part of the human body being protected.

摘要: An individual absorbent article package, such as a sanitary napkin wrapper and an adhesive fastening system for such a wrapper are disclosed. The adhesive fastening system comprises a tape tab having an adhesive for releasably securing the wrapper and sanitary napkin in a folded configuration prior to and after use. The adhesive is adhered to a landing surface such as a portion of the sanitary napkin wrapper that forms part of the package body. The landing surface need not be reinforced to prevent tearing upon opening of the package. The fastening system provides bond security while at the same time making the fastening system easy to open without tearing by carefully matching of the properties of the adhesive, the tape tab, and the landing surface. The surface characteristics, elasticity modulus, and caliper of the landing surface are specified. The agressiveness (quick-stick) and coating weights of the adhesive are carefully selected to provide an adhesive fastening system that bonds easily, holds securely and is refastenable.

摘要: A method of and apparatus for separating and removing sectional membranes ("rag") from a section of fruit meat extracted from whole fruit to produce a juice/juice sac slurry. In one embodiment of the present invention, sections of fruit meat extracted from whole fruits are fed into a rotating screen drum having a counterrotating shaft coaxial therewith. The coaxial shaft has a plurality of striker bars projecting radially therefrom that strike the tumbling fruit meat sections and separate the juice sacs from the sectional membranes to produce the juice/juice sac slurry. Also disclosed and described are apparatuses for and methods of extracting fruit meat sections from whole fruits, and an apparatus for and method of separating seeds from the juice/juice sac slurry.

摘要: A process and apparatus for producing compressed, gas-stabilized tampons are disclosed. The gas-stabilized tampons include tampons having preferably multiple folds for improved leakage protection and comfort through improved expansion characteristics. The number of folds can vary from 3 to 20 and greater. The process includes the step of forcing a gas through the compressed tampon. The gas can include steam.

摘要: A method of and apparatus for extracting the fruit meat section of a fruit, and subsequently separating and removing the sectional membranes and seeds from the fruit meat section to produce free juice and an abundance of unruptured juice sacs. In one embodiment of the present invention, whole fruits are fed into a dual turret extraction apparatus that includes a plurality of matched resilient cups for holding the fruit. After the fruit is cut in half, the halves are indexed through successive coring and reaming stations. The coring station includes a coring element that cleanly extracts a hemisperical section of fruit meat from the peel. The reaming station includes a reaming element that gently removes any fruit meat remaining within the peel. The fruit meat sections are then fed into rag separator apparatus that uses a rotating screen drum and a counterrotating shaft having striker bars projecting radially therefrom to strip the juice sacs from the sectional membranes. The resultant juice/juice sac slurry is then deposited on the upper surface of an inclined vibrating bed that causes the seeds to bounce and tumble down the bed while the juice sacs travel up the bed to a point where they are collected.

摘要: A package for heating a plurality of substantially upright, in-line food items in a toaster having a trough, handle, and retainer. The trough provides support for bottom end of food items and for catching by-products when the package is used in a toaster. The handle is connected to the trough. The retainer is connected to the handle above the trough. The retainer provides support for upper end of food items. The retainer has an opening through which upper ends of the plurality of food items extend. The retainer and the handle are oriented such that the upright plane of the edges of the retainer and the handle are substantially parallel to the plane of a radiant heat source in the toaster. The retainer and the handle subject to radiant heat from the heat source are thin enough to minimize the amount of radiant heat absorbed by the retainer and the handle while maximizing the percent area of the food items exposed to the radiant heat source.
