A bag for retaining the warmth and crispiness of food items contained therein is disclosed. The bag is made of cellulose-based, oven-durable outer and inner plies that are adhesively affixed together by adhesive layers, a bag interior defined by adjacent faces of the inner ply, and at least one pocket formed between the outer and inner plies defined by adjacent adhesive layers. The outer and inner plies are pierced with a plurality of apertures such that the apertures pierced within the outer ply are offset from the apertures pierced within the inner ply by a predetermined dimension. Due to a temperature differential, vapors emitted by a warmed food item inserted in the bag interior are driven into each one pocket and remain within the corresponding pocket for a useful period of time. A process for producing the bag is also disclosed.

A microwavable crinkle-cut French fry potato includes deep groves and coatings of oil and encapsulated salt. Crinkle-cut potato pieces are prepared with a solid content of 40-45% by weight, frozen, sprayed with oil and coated with encapsulated salt. A carton for the potato pieces is formed from a single-piece blank provided with a pair of microwave susceptor surfaces and reinforced corners. A removable lid contacts the potato pieces during microwave reconstitution.

A container supporting French fries to be heated in a toaster. The toaster has an article receiving slot. The container comprises an upright structure having a closed bottom and a front and a back parallel to the front which are held together along adjacent side edges by mechanical means. The upright structure has an openable top for access to heated French fries. The front and back have apertures located above the closed bottom. The apertures provide an open area in the front and the back to pass toaster radiation heat into the container to heat the food article and for steam from heated French fries to exit the container. The upright structure has a portion extending sufficiently above the toaster which is cool-to-the-touch and electrically non-conductive to enable a user to lift the container from the toaster without a finger burn or electrical shock. The closed bottom of the container forms a drip trough. The container also has a fluid-absorbing member at the drip trough to absorb drippings from the heated French fries.

Prepared potato strips are oriented in the box during packing to be parallel and the box opened and the strips spread across the top, bottom and side panels for exposure to microwave radiation.
