Abstract: This disclosure is directed to prosthetic heart valves having elongated sealing members. As one example, a prosthetic heart valve comprises an annular frame, a leaflet assembly comprising a plurality of leaflets, and a skirt assembly comprising an inner skirt, an outer skirt, and/or a third skirt. The frame is radially compressible and expandable between a radially compressed state and a radially expanded state and comprises a plurality of apices at an inflow end. The skirt assembly forms a pocket at the inflow end of the frame that creates extra space between the inflow end of the frame and the skirt assembly when the frame is in the radially expanded state. This pocket allows the apices at the inflow end of the frame to move towards an inflow end of the pocket when the frame is radially compressed to the radially compressed state without protruding through the skirt assembly.

Abstract: A prosthetic valve can include a compressible and expandable frame comprising an inflow end and a plurality of apices at the inflow end. The prosthetic valve can include a leaflet assembly coupled to the frame. The prosthetic valve can include an inner skirt extending around an inner side of the frame and having inflow and outflow edge portions, and can further include an outer skirt extending around an outer side of the frame and having inflow and outflow edge portions. The inflow edge portion of the inner and outer skirts can be stitched together such that they both form a pocket having an inflow end. When the frame is in a radially expanded state, the apices can be spaced from the pocket's inflow end and when the frame is radially compressed to a radially compressed state, the apices can move closer to the pocket's inflow end.

Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve including a plurality of leaflets attached to the frame is disclosed. The plurality of leaflets is disposed within the frame and configured to regulate the flow of blood through the frame in one direction, each leaflet comprising a cusp edge portion. The prosthetic heart valve can further include at least one suture extending along a cusp edge portion of at least a first leaflet of the plurality of leaflets, a plurality of in-and-out stitches extending through the suture and the cusp edge portion of the first leaflet, and a plurality of whip stitches that extend around selected struts of the frame and the suture to couple the cusp edge portion of the first leaflet to the frame.
