Abstract:
The invention relates to compositions, methods of manufacture, and methods for reducing metal corrosion during alkaline cleaning. In particular, the method employs a hydroxyphosphono carboxylic acid in alkaline cleaning of hard surfaces.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods of increasing retention and drainage in papermaking processes using high molecular-weight, water-soluble polymers.
Abstract:
Corrosion inhibitors and methods for inhibiting or reducing corrosion of metallic surfaces are provided. A corrosion inhibitor composition may include a 3-alkylamino-2-hydroxysuccinic acid compound. A method of inhibiting corrosion of a metallic surface in an aqueous system includes the step of contacting the surface with an effective amount of a corrosion inhibitor composition. The corrosion inhibitor composition may include other components, such as zinc, and it may also exclude phosphorus.

Abstract:
Maleic anhydride homopolymer corrosion inhibitors, maleic acid homopolymer corrosion inhibitors, methods for preparing the same, and methods of inhibiting corrosion are provided. The corrosion inhibitors may exclude phosphorus and may contain a hydrolysate of a maleic anhydride homopolymer or a hydrolysate of a maleic acid homopolymer. The maleic acid homopolymer may include from about 2 to about 5 maleic acid repeating units and the maleic anhydride homopolymer may include from about 2 to about 5 maleic anhydride repeating units.
Abstract:
Emulsions of mobility control polymers can be used to increase recovery of crude oil from a subterranean hydrocarbon-containing formation. A flooding fluid comprising the polymer emulsions are injected into a well that is in contact with the subterranean hydrocarbon-containing formation. The polymers can be temporarily cross-linked and have protected shear degradation and improved injectivity into the well; the shear resistance can be measured in terms of viscosity loss due to shear, and the improved injectivity can be measured in terms of the flooding fluid's filter ratio, flow rate, and viscosity.
Abstract:
Corrosion inhibitors and methods for reducing or inhibiting corrosion of metals in aqueous systems are provided. Corrosion inhibitor compositions may include tetracarboxylic acids, such as butane tetracarboxylic acid. The compositions may include other components, such as zinc, molybdate, silicate, cerium, among others. The compositions may also include polymers or oligomers. The corrosion inhibitor compositions produced synergistic results and unexpectedly low corrosion rates.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are polymer compositions useful in high temperature enhanced oil recovery applications. The polymer compositions include at least 20 mol % of an N,N-dialkyl-N,N-diallylammonium salt and further have a net negative charge. The polymer compositions provide polymer dispersions in water or brine having stable viscosity when maintained at temperatures of 100° C. and above for at least 2 days.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are water-soluble polymers comprising hydrolyzable cross-linked monomer units, and methods for recovering hydrocarbon fluids from a subterranean formation using the water-soluble polymers.
