摘要: A blood tracking system, comprising a light source comprising a first LED configured to emit light of a first color and a second LED configured to emit light of a second color is disclosed. The light of the first color and the light of the second color are mixed to appear as light of a third color when the first LED and the second LED are activated; and wherein the light of a third color is effective for highlighting blood. A method of highlighting a red material comprising illuminating the red material with both red and blue light is also disclosed.

摘要: A flashlight includes a body with a head, the head having a central axis. A light source is coupled to the body and a lens assembly is rotatably coupled to the head. The lens assembly has a rotational axis and a plurality of filters offset from the rotational axis such that rotation of the lens assembly places different filters on the output side of the light source. The rotational axis of the lens assembly is substantially aligned with the central axis of the head.

摘要: A medical fastener (18), preferably bioabsorbable, is used for repairing torn soft tissue, particularly meniscal tissue (16). The fastener (18) can have an enlarged head (22) at the proximate end to engage meniscal tissue (16) adjacent to a tear (14), and a pointed distal tip (21) at the other end to ease insertion of the fastener (18) into the meniscus (16). The shank (20) of the fastener (18) bridges across the tear (14). Opposite ends of the shank (20) are secured in the meniscal tissue (16) by a medical adhesive, preferably bioabsorbable, and preferably at locations remote from the tear (14) so as not to interfere with healing of the tear (14). The fastener (18) can have a blind bore (24) opening through the head (22) of the fastener (18) and extending through the shank (20) to a location close to the tip (21) and generally radial holes (26) communicating between the bore (24) and the exterior of the shank (20). The medical adhesive can be injected through the bore (24) for passage outward through the holes (26).

摘要: A vaginal speculum assembly is provided including an upper arm and a lower arm movably coupled to one another by a coupling member positioned at a posterior end. Each of the upper and lower arms are dimensioned for at least partial insertion into a patient's vagina, and when so inserted, are dimensioned to exert pressure on at least upper and lower portions of an inner surface of the patient's vaginal wall. The coupling member permits movement of the upper and lower arms relative to one another to adjust their positioning relative to the vaginal wall. The assembly further includes a locking device coupled to at least one of the upper and lower arms which, when activated, substantially prevents movement of the upper and lower arms relative to one another. A connector member extends outwardly from a posterior end of the upper arm. The connector member is configured to engage a predetermined portion of an insert device assembly including an insert member to be inserted into the patient's urethral canal, to thereby maintain the insert device assembly in position relative to the vaginal speculum assembly.

摘要: An insertion device is provided for use in assessing urinary function. The insert device includes an insert member for at least partial insertion into a patient's urethral canal having a length such that it is positioned distal of the urethral sphincter, and having an outer surface at least a portion of which is configured to engage the inner wall of the urethra to substantially prevent fluid flow therebetween. The insert member has a channel therethrough through which fluid from a fluid source can be introduced into the urethral canal. Also provided is a device for introducing fluid into a patient's urethral canal including a hand-sized casing having a fluid conduit therein between a fluid inlet and a fluid source assembly. The device further includes an activation device movable between a first position wherein it does not obstruct the fluid conduit and a second position wherein it does obstruct the fluid conduit. An insert member is coupled to a distal end of the hand-sized casing and has a channel therethrough between a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and is dimensioned for at least partial insertion into the patient's urethral canal distal of the urethral sphincter. The insert member channel is in fluid communication with the fluid conduit.

摘要: A surgical knot pushing device is described which has a knot pushing interface mounted on the distal portion of an elongated body and an actuation handle located on the proximal portion of the elongated body. The knot pushing interface has a suture receiving recess formed thereon, and a knot positioning member which traverses the suture receiving interface. At least one extendable knot retaining member is further positioned on the pushing interface, the at least one extendable retaining member capable of engaging suture material. The knot pushing interface also comprises at least one suture cutting member which is in communication with the actuation handle. The present invention is particularly well suited for use in minimally invasive surgical procedures. The present invention also teaches a method of forming a knot in suture material, retaining a knot with a knot pushing device, advancing and applying a knot to an area of interest, and cutting excess suture material.
