Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for determining the donned or doffed state of a headset. In one example, a headset includes a processor, an acoustic transducer, and a detector operably coupled to the processor, the detector providing an output charge pattern corresponding to a state selected from the group consisting of the headset being donned and doffed. Advantageously, the present disclosure provides for reliably determining a donned or doffed state of a headset for efficiently routing calls, text messages, and/or otherwise being used for notifications and requests in a system.
Abstract:
A system, apparatus, and method are provided for automatically provisioning wireless local area network (LAN) access point and/or hotspot information, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service provider information, and VoIP account information on a service provider's Web page to configure a wireless VoIP headset for use.
Abstract:
A wireless headset and a system and method for controlling or managing a wireless headset are provided. In one embodiment, a wireless headset includes a World Wide Web (Web) server for providing a Web page to control or manage a headset, and a module operably coupled to the Web server for performing a control function or a management function on the headset. A communication device including a keypad, a display, and a Web browser can then exchange information between the Web page and the Web server to control or manage the wireless headset.
Abstract:
A headset includes a voice print match application or speech recognition application. The voice print match application receives a user speech corresponding to a submitted voice print phrase key upon determining a donned condition, where the user speech is compared to the predetermined voice print phrase key to validate an identity of the headset user. The speech recognition application receives a user speech corresponding to a password or PIN and recognizes the password or PIN. The recognized password or PIN is compared to a valid password or PIN to validate the identity of the headset user.

Methods and apparatuses for Bluetooth communications are disclosed. In one example, data is exchanged between Bluetooth devices utilizing Service Discovery Protocol service records.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for adaptive sidetone and adaptive voice activity detect (VAD) threshold for speech processing are disclosed. The VAD system generally includes an adaptive VAD threshold generator configured to generate a VAD threshold based on an increase in voice level resulting from sidetone attenuation and a comparator for comparing received signals to the adaptive VAD threshold to determine the existence of voice activity. The sidetone attenuation is based on an average ambient noise energy level determined from a noise energy amplitude during periods of no voice activity and a comparator for comparing received signals to the adaptive VAD threshold to determine existence of voice activity.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a solution to the needs described above through a method and apparatus for reducing echo and noise. The apparatus includes a microphone array for receiving and audio signal, the audio signal including a voice signal component and a noise signal component. The apparatus further includes a voice processing path having an input coupled to the microphone array and a noise processing path having an input coupled to the microphone array. The voice processing path is adapted to detect voice signals and the noise processing path is adapted to detect noise signals. A first echo controller is coupled to the voice processing path and a second echo controller is coupled to the noise processing path. A noise reducer is coupled to the output of the first echo controller and second echo controller.

Abstract:
A method for real time digital instant messaging includes monitoring a condition of a wireless headset, estimating a potential for the user to receive and immediately respond to a real time digital message, such as an instant communications or a VoIP message, and then selectively directing a real time digital message, when received, to the user via the headset when the estimated potential indicates that the user is reasonably likely to immediately respond to the real time digital message. A sensor in the headset may be used to determine if a recent action of the user was don the headset by putting it on, doff the headset by taking it off, dock the headset by placing it in a charging station, move while wearing the headset, leave the headset on a desktop or other surface or carry the headset.
