    Abstract: A low-smoke, non-halogenated flame retardant composition made from and/or containing polypropylene, magnesium dihydroxide, and aluminum magnesium layered double hydroxide modified with a hydrogenated fatty acid is disclosed. A composition containing and/or made from (a) a polypropylene, (b) a first distribution of magnesium dihydroxide particles having a d50 in the range of about 0.75 microns to about 1.25 microns, (c) a second distribution of magnesium dihydroxide particles having a d50 in the range of about 1.50 microns to about 3.50 microns, and (d) aluminum magnesium layered double hydroxide modified with a hydrogenated fatty acid is disclosed. A power cable having a jacket made from and/or containing a low-smoke non-halogenated flame retardant composition is also disclosed.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are blended polymer compositions having a polyethylene first resin and a mLLDPE resin. The polyethylene first resin have a density of at least 0.926 g/cm3; and the mLLDPE resin has a density of between about 0.910 to about 0.925 g/cm3 and a melt index ranging from about 0.05 to about 5. The amount of the mLLDPE is less than about 20 weight percent based on the weight of the polyethylene first resin and mLLDPE resin; and the mLLDPE resin has a narrower molecular weight distribution than the polyethylene first resin.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for crosslinking polyolefins through using a substantially-miscible, polyolefin-based, silane-crosslinking-agent carrier and related moisture-crosslinkable polyolefin-based compositions. The method is for crosslinking a first polyolefin includes the steps of: (A) selecting a second polyolefin being substantially-miscible with the first polyolefin and having particles of a morphology selected from the group consisting of powder and substantially spherical; (B) admixing the second polyolefin to the first polyolefin; (C) adsorbing a silane-crosslinking agent onto the second polyolefin, thereby rendering a substantially-miscible, polyolefin-based, silane-crosslinking-agent carrier; (D) melt blending the first polyolefin and the substantially-miscible, polyolefin-based, silane-crosslinking-agent carrier, thereby yielding a moisture-crosslinkable polyolefin-based composition; and (E) crosslinking the moisture-crosslinkable polyolefin-based composition.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a peroxide-modified polyethylene, related compositions, and wire-and-cable products made therefrom. The process for preparing the peroxide-modified polyethylene including the steps of: (A) preparing a first Ziegler-Natta-catalyzed polyethylene in a first reactor; (B) transferring the first Ziegler-Natta-catalyzed polyethylene from the first reactor to a second reactor; (C) admixing a first amount of an organic peroxide to the second reactor; (D) reacting the organic peroxide with a polyethylene composition made from or containing the first Ziegler-Natta-catalyzed polyethylene, thereby coupling the polyethylene components and forming the peroxide-modified polyethylene; and (E) collecting the peroxide-modified polyethylene.
