    摘要: The adhesive bonding strength of a pressure sensitive adhesive on a laminate is selectively modified by applying a discontinuous layer of a non-adhesive material to the pressure sensitive adhesive. Preferably, the laminate is a preformed, label stock, including a label or substrate having a pressure sensitive adhesive on one surface thereof and a release sheet overlying the adhesive. The label is first delaminated from the release sheet to expose the oppositely facing surface of the label and the release sheet. A discontinuous layer of the non-adhesive material is then printed on either the release sheet or the adhesive. The release sheet is relaminated back onto the label to form a modified laminate with new adhesive properties. When the label is then separated from the release layer, the non-adhesive material adheres to the pressure sensitive adhesive to reduce the exposed surface area of the adhesive.

    摘要: A hidden entry system comprises a document having a localized coating of a non-pressure sensitive heat activated autogenous chromogenic composition to provide a latent image which reveals hidden indicia when heated at moderate temperatures. The hidden entry system is especially useful for contests and promotional forms. Quickly striking the chromogenic composition with a fingernail or blunt object converts the latent image to a visible colored image by frictional heat. The chromogenic composition contains a chromogenic compound and a color developer which are non-pressure sensitive and non-reactive at room temperature. The latent image can be provided by an intimate mixture of the chromogenic compound and the developer or alternatively, one component can be printed on a separate layer or coating of the other component.

    摘要: A bearing mounting device and bearing for economical replacement of worn and damaged bearings in a machine housing is disclosed. The bearing mounting device comprises a radially expandable sleeve having radially movable segments along the periphery thereof and a tapered, threaded bore. A bearing with a tapered, threaded outer diameter complementary to the threaded bore of the sleeve threadingly engages the bore of the sleeve, and tightening of the bearing into the bore expands the segments of the sleeve against the housing. With the tapered outer diameter of the bearing, when tightened securely in the bore the bearing and the sleeve are securely fixed in the housing. A spanner wrench is disclosed for rotating the outer race of the bearing into engagement with the sleeve, and a second spanner wrench is disclosed for preventing rotation of the sleeve during insertion of the bearing.
