    摘要: A boosted air source heat pump system is presented having a primary compressor, a booster compressor and an economizer. On activation of the heat pump system, the primary compressor is operated. When the primary compressor cannot meet the demand, the booster compressor is activated, but only upon receipt of a signal enabling the operation of the booster compressor. The booster compressor is preferably a variable speed booster, and its speed is controlled to be at or between an absolute minimum speed and an absolute maximum speed. The booster may be on the low side or the high side of the primary compressor. The operation of the economizer may be modulated to meet the demand on the system.

    摘要: Loss of oil due to oil feedback is prevented in a screw compressor in a refrigeration application due to low capacity operation. The apparent suction temperature is compared to the temperature of the water exiting the evaporator to determine the apparent superheat and the loading is increased upon the apparent superheat reaching a predetermined level. Upon sensing a predetermined difference, an electronic slide valve block is initiated to prevent further unloading and loading may be initiated in a fixed amount, incrementally or on a pulsed basis.

    摘要: A refrigeration system characterized by a first stage booster compressor feeding multiple parallel connected second stage compressors in an otherwise conventional closed loop refrigeration system utilizing an economizer between the condenser and evaporator and returning economizer vapor to the inter-stage pressure point between the first stage and second stage compressors operates in a very flexible and highly efficient manner by driving the booster, first stage compressor at variable speed and the second stage compressor(s) at constant speed, at maximum capacity, with those machines incapable of being unloaded. The control system utilizing a sensor for sensing evaporator pressure, evaporator temperature or suction pressure, varies the speed of the drive motor for the first stage booster compressor to initially slow down the booster and secondly connect or disconnect the second stage compressor from the system. The booster is always operating and the economizer is always active in the system. Since the high stage machines do not unload, they always operate at their peak efficiency.

    摘要: A helical screw rotary compressor or expander rotatably mounts intermeshed helical screw rotors within intersecting bores of a casing. An axially extending recess provided within the barrel portion of the casing in open communication with the bore bears a slide valve member whose inner face is complementary to the envelope of the casing. The slide valve member controls communication between the working chamber defined by the rotors and the casing to the outlet port and bears means at the end in communication with the outlet port for sensing the closed thread pressure adjacent to the end of the slide valve member closing off the outlet port. Comparison of that closed thread pressure to the outlet port pressure permits controlled shifting of the slide valve member to prevent overcompression and undercompression, when the unit acts as a compressor, or underexpansion or overexpansion when the unit acts as an expander. The slide valve member carries a bore parallel to its longitudinal axis which bears a cylindrical volume capacity control valve body which shifts to vary flow through axially spaced channels, selectively communicating the working fluid inlet to the bores bearing the intermeshed helical screw rotors. The slide valve member and the volume capacity control valve body carried thereby are independently movable.

    摘要: In a vertical hermetic compressor, an inner cylindrical housing coaxially mounted within a sealed outer enclosure, sealably carries at its lower end, paired helical screw rotors defining with the inner housing a screw compressor compression chamber and supports coaxially with one of the screw rotors and constituting an axial extension thereof the compressor electrical drive motor by longitudinally spaced tapered roller bearings. Oil is bled from the sump and fed to the suction inlet tube to the compressor upstream of the working gas filter. Compressed working fluid is discharged axially downwardly with the lower tapered roller bearing assembly providing a minimal high pressure gap between the screw rotor ends and the stationary end plates. Entrained oil from the discharge passage which extends through the electric motor rotor seeks the suction side of the compressor through the upper of the two tapered roller bearing pack assemblies for controlled continuous lubrication of the upper bearing assembly. The compressed working fluid discharges axially through the center of the sealed outer enclosure at its upper end free of oil which is separated by impact with a curved plate deflector overlying the upper end of the electric motor and by centrifugal force provided by the electric motor rotor rotation. The upper bearing pack assembly for the screw rotors may employ needle bearings instead of tapered roller bearings and the lower bearing pack assemblies may incorporate radially extending needle bearings for thrust take up in lieu of one set of tapered roller bearings, with the needle bearings carried by a spherical, self-aligning mounting assembly. A capillary line passing through the compressor inlet passage carries oil from the sump to an injection port opening to a closed thread just after suction cut off for lubricating and sealing of the screw rotors.
