An apparatus for processing bank notes that includes an input unit for inputting bank notes, a singler for singling the input bank notes, a transport system for transporting the singled bank notes through a sensor device for checking the bank notes, a control device that evaluates signals from the sensor device, output units into which the bank notes are transported by the transport system, controlled by the control device, in dependence of the check, and detectors for monitoring the apparatus for the presence of malfunctions. The sensor device signals are evaluated by the control device for this purpose, and the control device stops the singler and the transport system in the event that the presence and/or the assumption of a malfunction is determined by the control device, wherein the control device, upon or after the stopping of the singler and of the transport system, effects an expansion of the transport system.

The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for processing bank notes present as separate deposits. To improve the processing reliability of the individual deposits, it is provided that the beginning and/or end of each deposit is recognized, and a separate carrier is used for each deposit for transporting the deposit to processing.

The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for processing documents of value, in particular bank notes, and a method for operating such an apparatus (1). The apparatus (1) includes several processing zones (2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13), such as for example an input module (2), an operating module (3) and an output module (4). The apparatus (1) is further set up to detect events in the processing zones (2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13), which require an intervention of an operator. The processing zones (2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13) each have at least one cover (6), which, dependent on such a detected event, is automatically opened without intervention of the operator.

A bank-note processing apparatus includes a debanding station and an image capturing device by which first and second information items applied to the band can be optically captured and digitally stored. The image capturing device includes at least one mirror, preferably two symmetrically arranged mirrors, in order for information items on the band that lie on different sides of the bank-note stack on the banded bank-note stack to be able to be optically captured simultaneously. The image capture can be effected before or after the removal of the band from the bank-note stack.

The solution of the problem is based on an apparatus for inserting one or more value documents, including an insertion apparatus for inserting the individual value document or several value documents and a separator connected to the insertion apparatus for detecting one value document at a time. The insertion apparatus includes at least two parts connected to each other in a movable manner, wherein the first part in a first position forms a continuous supporting surface together with the second part for inserting several securities, and wherein the first part in a second position for inserting an individual security is removed from the area of the supporting surface.

A method for singling loose sheet material, in particular bank notes, wherein the sheet material is supplied in an input pocket in the form of a stack in a defined position for vertical feed of the sheet material to a singler. The sheet material is moved within the input pocket vertically from the feed position to a singling position. While the preceding stack is still being singled in the singler, the next stack to be singled is already supplied in the input pocket of the singler in the defined feed position.

The sheet compartments of a stacking wheel of a stacking device, as used in sheet goods processing devices, in particular in banknote processing machines and automated money deposit and/or withdrawal machines, have a wavy contour. The braking effect on the banknotes fed into the sheet compartments is thereby increased, so that the banknotes can be fed into the sheet compartments at increased speed without being damaged.
