摘要： A surgical instrument is disclosed comprising a housing, a transducer supported within the housing, an end-effector engaged with the transducer, and a clamp including a jaw member movably supported relative to the end-effector between an open position and a closed position. The transducer is configured to produce vibrations. The end-effector defines an axis and a distal tip. The distal tip is movable relative to the axis by vibrations produced by the transducer. The end-effector is configured to be detached from the transducer. The transducer is configured to receive a different end-effector.

The surgical instrument further comprises an ultrasonic blade extending along the longitudinal axis. The ultrasonic blade is coupled to the transducer and comprises a body and a treatment region. The body comprises a proximal end, a distal end, and a bottom surface. The distal end of the body is movable relative to the longitudinal axis by the vibrations produced by the transducer. The treatment region extends from the proximal end to the distal end. The surgical instrument further comprises a protective sheath disposed adjacent to the bottom surface of the ultrasonic blade.

摘要： A surgical instrument that may include a housing, a transducer engaged with the housing which can produce vibrations, and an end-effector engaged with the transducer. The surgical instrument can further include an adjustable sheath extending from the housing where the sheath is movable relative to the distal tip of the end-effector and where the distance between the distal tip of the sheath and the distal tip of the end-effector can be set such that the sheath can act as a depth stop. The sheath can be adjusted such that, when the distal tip of the sheath contacts the tissue or bone being incised, the surgeon can determine that the appropriate depth of the incision has been reached. In other embodiments, the end-effector can be moved with respect to the sheath in order to adjust the distance between the distal tip of the end-effector and the distal tip of the sheath.

摘要： A surgical device is disclosed including a surgical instrument and an outer sheath surrounding the surgical instrument. The surgical instruments includes an end effector including a first jaw member and a second jaw member. At least one of the first jaw member or the second jaw member is pivotable toward the other to grasp tissue. The outer sheath is slidable relative to the surgical instrument along a longitudinal axis between a first position, wherein the first jaw member and the second jaw member are positioned within the outer sheath proximal to a distal portion of the outer sheath, and a second positon, wherein the first iaw member and the second iaw member are positioned outside the outer sheath distal to the distal portion of the outer sheath. The distal portion of the outer sheath is configured to clamp tissue.
