摘要: A connector includes a pair of connector housings each having a front half portion for accommodating a terminal and which are coupled with each other in a coupling direction. A locking mechanism is provided and includes a cantilever-like resilient locking member having a leading end and disposed on one of the pair of connector housings, and a locking portion disposed on the other connector housing, in which the leading end of the cantilever-like resilient locking member of the one of the pair of connector housings first interferes with the locking portion of the other connector housing so as to be flexed away from a normal state, and is then restored to its normal state so as to be brought into engagement with the locking portion after a lapse of predetermined time. The connector further includes a detecting spacer having a device for interfering with the cantilever-like resilient locking member of the locking mechanism when the cantilever-like resilient locking member is in a flexed posture which is away from its normal state and constitutes a lock-error state, so as to prevent the withdrawal of the detecting spacer when the locking mechanism is in the lock-error state.

摘要: An electrical connection element is formed by stamping a plate having a thickness. A contact surface is formed at an edge surface of an end portion of the electrical connection element. The end edge portion is bent toward both lateral sides of the plate to form the contact surface. The lateral edge portions are offset towards opposite sides of the plate, so that the width between the opposite lateral edges is about twice the thickness of the plate. This edge surface is flat and smooth. Therefore, if the round conductor of a ribbon tape contacts any portion of the contact surface, a good electrical contact is obtained. Thus, the electrical connection element for contacting the side surface of the round conductor of the ribbon wire can be produced from a thin plate material.

摘要: A connector is provided to avoid problems in producing and handling a wiring harness when one conductive path which is branched from a main path of the wiring harness and returns thereto again after passing via branch paths is constructed. To achieve this objective, a cutter 25 is provided between two blade-type terminal fittings 20a, 20d of a joint connector 10, and a main wire Waa is connected with the two blade-type terminal fittings and cut therebetween by the cutter 25. By connecting a branching connector 40 with the joint connector 10, branch terminal fittings 41a, 41d are connected with the blade-type terminal fittings 20a, 20d. Since all main wires forming a wiring harness WH are allowed to have the same length and to be bundled together, there is no problem in producing and handling the wiring harness WH.

摘要: A connector for a flat cable having a hollow casing with a cavity therein. The cavity receives a leading end of the flat cable through a front opening in the casing. The cable has a plurality of flat terminals on both sides of the leading end. Complementary front and rear terminals are inserted into the cavity from front and rear openings in the casing. Each set of terminals contacts one side of the leading end of the cable. The leads from each set of terminals extend outwardly of the casing in opposite directions, thereby reducing the density of leads and facilitating assembly thereof.

摘要: A joint connector including a terminal and a connector housing. The terminal is provided with a pair of upstanding walls extending longitudinally of the terminal and spaced apart from each other. A resilient tongue is located between the walls and protrudes upwardly therefrom. This portion of the terminal fits into a corresponding receptacle in the connector housing. One of the two walls is shorter than the other and the receptacle has a similar configuration. Thus, when the terminal is inserted in proper orientation, the short wall matches the short portion of the receptacle opening and the terminal can be easily introduced. However, if the terminal is reversed, the high wall will be in contact with the short opening and entry will be prevented. In this manner, an opportunity for misassembly and consequent undesired deformation of the contact tongue are eliminated.

摘要: A connector housing includes a terminal accommodating chamber communicated through a cutout portion with a space or central chamber in which a joint terminal is accommodated. A terminal is provided with a tongue member resiliently contacting with a short circuit terminal through the cutout portion. When the terminal is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber, the tongue member contacts and electrically communicates with the short circuit terminal through the cutout portion. The lock piece for holding the terminal is provided on a peripheral wall of the terminal accommodating chamber 11 on a side opposite to the side on which the cutout portion is formed. Therefore, a gap is formed in the periphery of the lock piece. When a current of high intensity flows, the outside of the housing is covered with the cap so as to cover the gap, and the thickness is increased for enhancing the insulating property. If the competent insulating property can be provided only by the thickness of the connector housing, the cap may be removed. In this case, the dimensions of the joint connector can be further reduced.
