    摘要: An electrical connector assembly is provided for interconnecting a plurality of discrete electrical wires to the conductors of a flat flexible circuit. The assembly includes a first connector having a dielectric housing. A plurality of discrete conductive terminals are mounted on the housing and are adapted for termination to the electrical wires. The terminals have contact portions for engaging the conductors of the flat flexible circuit. A second connector is adapted for mating with the first connector. The second connector includes a body member for positioning the flat flexible circuit, with the conductors of the circuit positioned for engaging the conductive terminals when the connectors are mated. A yieldable backing structure is provided on the body member beneath the flexible circuit for resiliently biasing the conductors of the circuit against the terminals of the first connector.

    摘要: A zero force electrical connector is adapted for terminating a flat cable. The connector includes a dielectric housing mounting a plurality of conductive terminals. The housing has a first end adapted for receiving the flat cable in engagement with the terminals, a rear end and opposite sides. An actuator is mounted to the housing for movement between a first position allowing free insertion of the cable into engagement with the terminals and a second position biasing the cable against the terminals. Complementary interengaging stops are provided between the housing and the actuator near the rear end of the housing for limiting rotation of the actuator relative to the housing in a first direction. Complementary interengaging latches are provided between the housing and the actuator near the front end of the housing for preventing rotation of the actuator relative to the housing in a second direction opposite the first direction.

    摘要: A connector for coaxial cables in the form of three flat cables. The coaxial cables are arranged in the cable holder in three rows, so that bared signal conductors extend straight from the cable holder in the insulating body of the connector and ground conductors or ground wires remain in the cable holder. The connector includes wide ground contacts which are inserted in the cable holder to contact the ground conductors or ground wires of the coaxial cables under pressure, and three rows of signal contacts to which bared ends of signal conductors of the coaxial cables are soldered. Three rows of signal contacts are supported by three parallel support plates, respectively. The ground contacts are arranged between first and second rows of the signal contacts and between second and third rows of the signal contacts. A ground shell surrounds the signal contacts whereby a multi-layer strip line structure is formed.

    摘要: An electrical connector is adapted for terminating a flat cable. The connector includes an elongated dielectric housing defining an elongated opening for receiving a flat electrical cable. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing and have contact portions spaced along the opening. An actuator is mounted on the housing for movement between a first position allowing free insertion of the flat cable into the opening and a second position wherein a pressure plate of the actuator biases the cable against the contact portions of the terminals. The actuator includes at least one narrow projection at a leading edge of the pressure plate for preliminarily engaging a narrow portion of the flat cable to bias the cable against only some of the contact portions before the actuator is fully moved to its second position.

    摘要: An electrical connection element is formed by stamping a plate having a thickness. A contact surface is formed at an edge surface of an end portion of the electrical connection element. The end edge portion is bent toward both lateral sides of the plate to form the contact surface. The lateral edge portions are offset towards opposite sides of the plate, so that the width between the opposite lateral edges is about twice the thickness of the plate. This edge surface is flat and smooth. Therefore, if the round conductor of a ribbon tape contacts any portion of the contact surface, a good electrical contact is obtained. Thus, the electrical connection element for contacting the side surface of the round conductor of the ribbon wire can be produced from a thin plate material.

    摘要: A connector is provided for joining two flat flexible cables. The connector comprises a carrier having an elongated base, a pair of guides extending orthogonally from opposed ends of the base and a generally planar support extending from the base and disposed between the guides. The connector further comprises a resilient clip having opposed arms extending from a connecting member and converging toward one another. Slits may be formed in the clip to define a plurality of independent clamping fingers aligned respectively with conductive traces on the flat flexible circuit members. The circuit members are disposed in face to face contact on the support of the carrier, and the clip is slidably advanced over the circuit members and the support. Thus, the arms of the clip hold the flat flexible circuit members in face to face contact with one another and against the support of the carrier.

Spring action forces the traces of the flexible circuit board against a conducting surface in the receptacle, shorting the traces so that the potential at all contact leads of the integrated circuit will rise uniformly in the event of an electrostatic discharge. A plug connector may be inserted through an opening in the receptacle to interrupt the shorting and to connect the integrated circuit to an electronic device. Protection is restored automatically when the plug connector is withdrawn.
