Abstract:
A mobile communication system and a method of establishing short range wireless communication (SRWC) between a vehicle and a mobile device. The method includes: establishing a first short range wireless communication (SRWC) link between the vehicle and a first mobile device; receiving at the vehicle a request to establish a second SRWC link from a second mobile device; and disconnecting the first SRWC link between the vehicle and the first mobile device and, in response to the request, establishing the second SRWC link between the vehicle and the second mobile device.
Abstract:
A system and method is taught for vehicles controlled by automated driving systems, particularly those configured to automatically control vehicle steering, acceleration, and braking during a drive cycle without human intervention. In particular, the present disclosure teaches a system and method for generation situational awareness and path planning data and transmitting this information via vehicle to vehicle communications where one vehicle has an obstructed view to objects not within an obstructed view of a second vehicle.
Abstract:
A driver monitoring system configured to monitor the performance of a driver of a vehicle communicating wirelessly with the driver monitoring system. The system comprises a driver behavior module that receives from the vehicle event data captured by a plurality of sensors in the vehicle and identifies at least one of a plurality of driver behaviors. A behavior characterization module receives from the driver behavior module the at least one identified driver behavior and characterizes the at least one identified driver behavior into at least one of a plurality of behavior categories. A risk assessment module analyzes the at least one characterized driver behavior in the plurality of behavior categories and determines therefrom a driver profile that may include a risk assessment for the driver of the vehicle system.
Abstract:
A system and method for operating a first vehicle hotspot at a vehicle. The first vehicle hotspot operates to provide wireless connectivity for one or more wireless devices located in the vehicle or within a proximity of the vehicle. The method is carried out by the vehicle and includes the steps of: detecting one or more channels of operation occupied by one or more other hotspots; selecting a channel of operation for the first vehicle hotspot according to a hotspot coordination policy; and configuring the first vehicle hotspot to use the selected channel of operation thereby allowing the one or more wireless devices to connect to the first vehicle hotspot through wireless communication over the selected channel of operation.
