A system for monitoring a trailer includes a detection device configured to monitor a connection between a coupler attached to the trailer and a trailer hitch attached to a vehicle and generate data related to the connection, and a processing device configured to receive the data from the detection device, and analyze the data to detect whether a partial detachment condition is present. Based on detecting the partial detachment condition, the processing device is configured to generate a notification to a driver to alert the driver of the partial detachment condition and/or control operation of the vehicle.

A vehicle includes a sensor unit, a body, a camera, a display, and a controller. The sensor unit obtains sensor data pertaining to conditions pertaining to the vehicle. The camera is mounted on the body, and includes a lens. The display is disposed within the body, and provides images from the camera. The controller is configured to at least facilitate rotating the lens, based at least in part on the one or more conditions, between a first position and a second position. When in the first position, the lens has a first focal length, resulting in images for the display with a first field of view. When in the second position, the lens has a second focal length that is shorter than the first focal length, resulting in images for the display with a second field of view that is wider than the first field of view.

The sensors are configured to generate sensor data pertaining to operation of the vehicle. The processor is configured to determine when the vehicle is about to make a turn at an intersection, based at least in part on the sensor data. The transceiver is configured to receive a video feed from one or more cameras of a second vehicle, the second vehicle disposed proximate the intersection, when the vehicle is about to make a turn, for use in assistance with making the turn of the vehicle at the intersection. The display device is configured to display the video feed in accordance with instructions provided by the processor.

A vehicle system to assist a driver during a potential passing event of a passing vehicle includes a transceiver and a display. A passing assist module in communication with the transceiver and the display is configured to cause the transceiver to establish a wireless connection with a remote transceiver of a target vehicle and to receive a remote video signal from a camera and the remote transceiver associated with the target vehicle and cause the display of the passing vehicle to output at least one of a video signal and an image based on the remote video signal from the target vehicle.
