Abstract: A distracted driving elimination system includes an image capture device within a passenger compartment of an automobile capturing images of a first hand and a second hand of a vehicle operator and a steering wheel. An analysis unit has a geometry and visual characteristics of multiple predetermined items saved in a memory. The analysis unit receives the images and compares the images to the predetermined items saved in the memory to identify if any one of the first hand or the second hand of the vehicle operator is not in direct contact with the steering and is in direct contact with one of the predetermined items thereby initiating a distracted driving event. A distracted driving signal is generated when the distracted driving event is initiated. An indication system generates an indication when the distracted driving signal is forwarded, the indication alerting the vehicle operator of the distracted driving event.

The method includes: obtaining onboard vehicle sensor data from at least one onboard vehicle sensor, the onboard vehicle sensor is a part of vehicle electronics of the host vehicle; obtaining edge sensor data from at least one edge sensor, the edge sensor is a part of an edge layer; generating a unified perception output based on the onboard vehicle sensor data and the edge sensor data; determining an AV action for the host vehicle based on the unified perception output; and providing the AV action to the host vehicle, wherein the host vehicle is configured to carry out the AV action.

Abstract: One or more vehicle systems and methods of operating a vehicle using wireless communications are disclosed. One method includes establishing a temperature threshold for a cold-start of the vehicle; receiving a remote vehicle start request via a wireless signal, wherein the remote vehicle start request is a request to start a motor of the vehicle; when the remote vehicle start request is received, indicating that the motor of the vehicle has failed to start; communicating with a self-heating battery on-board the vehicle the indication that the motor of the vehicle has failed to start; obtaining a temperature of a working battery on-board the vehicle or a temperature around the vehicle; when the temperature obtained of the working battery or around the vehicle is less than or equal to the temperature threshold for the cold-start of the vehicle, operating the self-heating battery to heat the working battery; and sending another vehicle start request wherein the another vehicle start request starts the motor of the vehicle.

In an exemplary embodiment, a method for assisting operation of a road vehicle with an aerial drone includes flying the aerial drone on a route ahead of the road vehicle and sensing an object at a location on the route ahead of the road vehicle with the aerial drone. Further, the method includes communicating data associated with the object and/or the location to the road vehicle. Also, the method includes utilizing the data to operate the road vehicle.
