Abstract: Technical solutions are described herein for providing driver notification in a vehicle. An example system includes one or more sensors that measure one or more attributes of a remote object in a predetermined vicinity of the vehicle. The system further includes an output device that provides a notification to a driver. The system further includes a remote object monitoring system that generates a driver notification to be provided via the output device based on the attributes of the remote object. Generating the driver notification includes determining a recklessness score for the remote object based on the attributes of the remote object. Generating the driver notification further includes, in response to the recklessness score exceeding a predetermined threshold, generating the driver notification that comprises a directional information that provides a spatial awareness of a location of the remote object in relation to the vehicle.

Abstract: Technical solutions are described for providing a driver performance feedback to a driver of a vehicle. An example method includes receiving, by a controller, a first maneuver control from an automated driving system of the vehicle. The method further includes receiving, by the controller, a second maneuver control from the driver. The method further includes, in response to the first maneuver control being different from the second maneuver control, generating a driver notification that is indicative of the first maneuver control from the automated driving system, and operating the vehicle using the second maneuver control.

Abstract: A fault tolerant distributed computing system includes a communication link and a plurality of nodes in electronic communication with one another by the communication link. Each node executes at least one node-specific application, includes a standby database that stores a standby copy corresponding to one of the node-specific applications executed by one of the remaining nodes that are part of the distributed computing system, and includes a spare computational capacity sufficient to execute at least one standby copy of one of the node-specific applications stored in the standby database. In response to determining a specific node is non-operational, the remaining nodes execute all the standby copies of the one or more node-specific applications that were previously executed by the specific node that is now non-operational.

The method further includes determining whether to perform at least one of the plurality of vehicle computing tasks in at least one of the remote computing system or a vehicle controller of the vehicle based on at least one QoS measurement.

Abstract: Technical solutions are described herein for adjusting a notification system of a vehicle. An example method includes receiving, by a controller, an occupant profile of an occupant of the vehicle. The method further includes adjusting, by the controller, a haptic array according to the occupant profile, the haptic array comprising a plurality of haptic actuators, the adjusting comprising activating a first subset of the haptic actuators and deactivating a second subset of the haptic actuators. Further, the method includes providing, by the haptic array, a notification to the occupant of the vehicle by providing a haptic feedback using the activated haptic actuators.

Abstract: Presented herein are intrusion detection systems and algorithms for networked vehicle controllers and devices, methods for making/using such systems and algorithms, and motor vehicles with a network of ECUs and network-profiling intrusion detection capabilities. A method for detecting intrusions into an onboard network of vehicle controllers includes determining the current state of operation of a vehicle, and identifying a network traffic pattern table corresponding to the vehicle's current state of operation. Network traffic flow for one of the in-vehicle controllers is monitored when exchanging data over the Ethernet communication interface while the motor vehicle is operating in the current state of operation. The method then determines if a traffic characteristic of the monitored network traffic flow is outside a calibrated boundary that is determined from the network traffic pattern table. Responsive to the monitored network traffic flow characteristic being outside the calibrated boundary, the method executes a remedial action response.
