Abstract:
Graphic elements for a computer-implemented mapping system may be displayed based on scheduled task data, routine data, or other data corresponding to an application of a client computing device. The application data may include a location and a scheduled time. A user may request a map for the scheduled task location. If a difference between the request time and the scheduled task time is below a threshold, then the mapping system may display or modify graphic elements for the location that are relevant to the scheduled task. For example, a user may include appointment data for an airline flight in a calendar application of a mobile computing device. If the user requests a map of the departure airport within a short amount of time before the flight, the map may include only relevant graphic elements such as a check in counter, a security checkpoint, and a departure gate.
Abstract:
A system, method and software application implement a visualization scheme for presenting information in a 3D map. A set of rules specifies the visualization scheme, particularly with respect to how the system renders background objects that are obscured by a foreground object. The objects include elements such as building surfaces, streets, pointers, icons, labels, floor plans, and the like. The rules specify details such as stroke, fill, transparency, opacity, and visibility of the elements. Some of the rules may specify relationships between an object and elements that are considered “internal” to the object, while others of the rules may specify relationships between an object and other elements considered “external” to the object.

Abstract:
An interactive digital map of a geographic area is provided via a viewport that defines a visible portion of the digital map. The digital map includes a representation of a structure. The viewport is panned relative to the digital map in response to receiving a user request. An indication that indoor map data is available for the structure is displayed in response to determining that the viewport is panning, and the indication is removed in response to determining that the viewport has stopped panning.
Abstract:
A digital map of a geographic area is provided via a user interface within a viewport, which defines a viewable portion of the digital map. The viewport is repositioned relative to the digital map in accordance with user commands provided via the user interface. A substantially continuous movement of the viewport in response to a plurality of similar user commands is detected. In response, a geographic place located in a general direction of the continuous movement of the viewport is determined, and a control for directly positioning the viewport over a portion of the digital map representing the geographic place is provided.
Abstract:
A non-transitory computer-readable medium stores instructions that implement an application programming interface (API) for generating digital maps. When invoked by a software module executing on one or more processors of a client device, the API operates to (i) determine a geographic location to be included in a digital map, where the geographic location is specified by a server device coupled to the client device via a communication network, (ii) select a parameter for a viewport of the digital map based at least on a distance from a current location of the client device to the specified geographic location, (iii) generate the digital map in accordance with the selected parameter, and display the digital map via a user interface of the client device.
Abstract:
Presentation of navigation directions in mapping applications is customized by obtaining navigation instructions that direct a user from a starting point to a destination. The navigation instructions are displayed via a user interface. For each of the navigation instructions, an individually operable user control for specifying an instruction-specific presentation rule is provided. Instruction-specific presentation rules are received prior to the user departing from the starting point toward the destination. The navigation instructions are presented during navigation in accordance with the received instruction-specific presentation rules.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided that display search results and user location on a map. A floor selector interface may be displayed with the map. The floor selector interface may include one or more floor selectors, each of which correspond to a floor in a multi-story building. Upon selection of a floor selector, first search result and location indicators may be displayed transparently or semi-transparently to indicate whether the user or the search results are on the selected floor. If the user or the search results are on a non-selected floor, such indicators may be displayed differently, such as with a different transparency. The floor selector interface may also include second search result and location identifiers. Such second identifiers may be displayed at particular floor selectors corresponding to the present elevation of the user and search results, respectively.
Abstract:
Embodiments include a computer-implemented for generating a photographic tour of a geographic location. The method including receiving, from first and second users, first and second sets of photographic images associated with the geographic location, receiving, from the first user, a request to generate the photographic tour of the geographic location, providing the first and second sets of photographic images for display, the photographic images of the first and second sets of photographic images being user selectable for inclusion in the photographic tour of the geographic location, receiving user selection of at least one of the photographic images of the first set of photographic images received from the first user and at least one of the photographic images of the second set of photographic images received from the second user, generating the photographic tour of the geographic location using the selected photographic images.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus directed to utilizing an automated messaging system to initiate and/or adapt a dialog with at least one user, where the dialog occurs via user interface input and output devices of at least one computing device of the user. In some of those implementations, the automated messaging system identifies at least one task associated with the user and initiates the dialog with the user based on identifying the task. The automated messaging system may initiate the dialog to provide the user with additional information related to the task and/or to determine, based on user input provided during the dialog, values for one or more parameters of the task. In some implementations, the automated messaging system may further initiate performance of the task utilizing parameters determined during the dialog.
