摘要: Devices for palliating gastrointestinal strictures using rapid exchange type enteral stent placement catheters. The catheter may include an inner member and an outer member, with the two members being slidable with respect to one another. In various device embodiments, a ramp for directing a guidewire out from within the catheter is provided using portions of the outer member or a shaped mandrel. The inner member may take a number of forms, including a tubular distal portion, a skived or integrally attached elongate midsection, and a proximal portion. A mandrel can be used in a portion proximal of the guidewire ramp, with the mandrel taking one of several disclosed forms.

摘要: A radially deployable covered stent that predictably and dependably expands to an increased diameter state at relatively low deployment pressures while concomitantly minimizing the risk of tearing of the stent covering during expansion. The stent covering includes an inner cover and an outer cover that are bonded together through and around the stent structure to cover the stent. The stent cover is constructed from expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) having a structure of nodes interconnected by fibrils. The stent covering has a radial thickness of at least about 0.008″ and an average internodal distance (IND) of at least about 100 microns when the stent is in the reduced diameter, unexpanded state. The covered stent deploys at an average deployment pressure of less than or equal to about 10 atm. A method for covering a stent structure according to the present invention includes placing a compression member in the form of a tubular sleeve over the outer cover and heating the compressed covered stent to bond the inner cover to the outer cover. An adhesive in the form of an aqueous dispersion of PTFE can be applied to either the inner cover or the outer cover to facilitate bonding of the inner cover to the outer cover.

摘要: An apparatus for moving an object disposed within a body lumen. The apparatus includes a first sheath, a coupling member and at least one contraction member for engaging at least a portion of the object. The coupling member is movable relative to the first sheath between a retracted position and a capture position. In the retracted position, a distal portion of the coupling member is disposed within the first sheath. In the capture position, the coupling member distal portion is disposed outside the first sheath. The coupling member is also selectively attachable to the object in at least the capture position. When the coupling member is attached to the object and the contraction member is directly engaged with the object, a predetermined coupling member movement relative to the contraction member radially contracts at least a portion of the object thereby facilitating movement of the object within the body lumen.

摘要: The combination of a pressure control and a catheter including an elongate member, a sensor mounted on the catheter and adapted to be placed in pressure engagement with tissue for sensing signals resulting from physiological phenomena and an expandable member mounted on the elongate member for maintaining the sensor in contact with the tissue. A pressure source is connected to the expandable member for maintaining the expandable member inflated and a pressure controller coupled to the expandable member for maintaining the contact pressure between the sensor and the tissue within preselected limits.
