    摘要: Copolyestercarbonates comprising carbonate structural units derived from at least one dihydroxyaromatic compound, preferably bisphenol A, and ester units derived from a dihydroxyaromatic compound and a composition comprising at least one C36 dimer acid may be prepared by an interfacial phosgenation method conducted at a pH in the range of about 9-11. The copolyestercarbonates have properties which are often superior to those of corresponding polymers prepared, for example, from dodecanedioic acid.

    摘要: The present invention related to a method for preparing a polyestercarbonate, the method comprising: a) reacting a dihydric phenol and a diacid having from 12 to about 30 carbon atoms in the presence of an effective amount of carbonate precursor, thereby forming a reaction mixture, wherein the pH of the reaction mixture is maintained in an initial pH range of from about 8.5 to about 9.5 for about 50% to about 95% of the total carbonate precursor addition, and a second pH range of from about 10 to about 12 for the remainder of the carbonate precursor addition.

    摘要: Siloxane bischloroformates are prepared in a continuous process by phosgenating siloxane bisphenols in a flow reactor using a substantial excess of phosgene and sodium hydroxide. While very high levels (>95%) of conversion of the siloxane bisphenol to the corresponding siloxane bischloroformate are achieved using a flow reactor according to the method of the invention, only more modest conversion (˜90%) of the siloxane bisphenol to the corresponding siloxane bischloroformate is attained when analogous batch processes are employed. The process holds promise for use in the manufacture of silicone-containing copolycarbonates which requires high purity siloxane bischloroformate intermediates.

    摘要: Flame retardant blends comprising a polycarbonate portion containing spirobiindane units, at least one addition polymer such as a styrene-acrylonitrile or ABS copolymer, and at least one phosphoryl flame retardant have high temperature stability properties superior to those of similar blends not containing the spirobiindane units. Blends in which the polycarbonate portion contains such units in amounts up to 5 mole percent also have excellent ductility.
