    摘要: The present invention relates to apparatuses and processes for recording dye-based recordable DVD media in higher quality at higher linear recording velocity, and provides an apparatus for recording a dye-based recordable DVD medium comprising a shortest mark recording unit, a second mark recording unit, and a cooling pulse irradiating unit, wherein the dye-based recordable DVD medium comprises a substrate and a recording layer formed on the substrate, the substrate comprises a guide groove to which wobble is formed, and the recording layer comprises at least an organic dye, the shortest mark recording unit is configured to record each of the shortest marks by use of one pulse beam of which the rear edge is more energized than the front edge, the second mark recording unit is configured to record each of the marks other than the shortest marks by use of one pulse beam of which the two sites of front and rear edges are energized, the cooling pulse irradiating unit is configured to irradiate cooling pulse laser beams onto the backwards of the respective pulse beams at 0.1 mW/pulse or less of optical energy, and the recording of marks is performed on the recording layer at a recording linear velocity of 42 m/sec or more.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a proteorhodopsin mutant having improved optical characteristics. One improved optical characteristic is having a lower pH (pKrh) at which equal concentrations of the acidic and basic spectral form of the proteorhodopsin molecules are present. Another improved optical characteristic is having a smaller difference in maximum absorption wavelength between the basic and the acidic form. The mutant comprises a mutation in a conserved amino acid residue of a proteorhodopsin variant, which causes spectral shifts. A preferred mutation site is a conserved histidine residue at amino acid position 75 of Bac31A8, or position 77 of Hot75m1, or its equivalent position of a proteorhodopsin variant. Another preferred mutation site is a conserved arginine residue at amino acid position 94 of Bac31A8, or position 96 of Hot75m1, or its equivalent position of a proteorhodopsin variant.

    摘要: The invention discloses a flat-plate lens to be built in an optical recording medium for improving the image-forming characteristics of the recording medium. The flat-plate lens of the invention comprises a layered thin film having a periodical structure in the direction of thickness thereof corresponding to a wavelength slightly longer than the wavelength of the light used for recording and retrieving information into and from the recording medium. The thin film of a periodical structure is formed by alternate lamination of pluralities of layers two materials having different refractive indices such as a combination of MgF2 and ZnS. When the thin film having such a periodical structure is formed with good uniformity allover the surface, the image-forming performance on the recording layer can be uniform irrespective of the position on the flat-plate lens.

To this end, there are provided a recording and reproducing method and a recording and reproducing apparatus of a dyestuff-based, write-once DVD medium in which each mark other than a shortest length mark is recorded on a recording layer at an optical recording medium formed by having at least a recording layer containing an organic dyestuff on a substrate having a guide groove at which a high-frequency wobble is provided, by using one pulse light at which two places which are a leading portion and a trailing end portion of a heating pulse are made to be high-output for a given time and at which a pulse light power of the leading portion of the heating pulse is greater than a pulse light power of the trailing end portion, and the recording is reproduced by reproducing light.
