Abstract: A system may include a sensor comprising a sensor configured to capture data from a part of an engine. The system being configured to form a three-dimensional (3D) surface model of the part of the engine based on signals received from the sensor system, determine a nonplanar reference surface based on the 3D surface model of the part, and measure a characteristic of a damaged portion of the part of the engine based on the 3D surface model and the nonplanar reference surface.

Abstract: An inspection system and related methods are provided. The inspection system includes an inspection camera, a plurality of light sources collocated with the inspection camera, and a post processing system. The plurality of light sources output directional light that have different respective ranges of light wavelengths. The inspection camera is configured to capture image data while a surface of interest is being illuminated with the directional light. Further, the post processing system is configured to receive the image data, process portions of the image data into a plurality of images that include distinct images corresponding to the different respective ranges of light wavelengths. The plurality of images can be reviewed to identify an abnormal region of the surface of interest.

Abstract: A tool stabilization mechanism is disclosed including a stabilizing device connected to a tool and movable between a deployed position and a non-deployed position, and an actuator for actuating the stabilizing device to move between the deployed position and the non-deployed position. In some forms the tool stabilization mechanism is integrated into a borescope unit, while in other forms it may be an accessory attachable to conventional borescope units. Related methods to the above are also disclosed herein.

Abstract: Systems and methods for treating a component of an installed and assembled gas turbine engine are provided. Accordingly, the method includes operably coupling a delivery assembly to an annular inlet of a core gas turbine engine. A portion of treating fluid is atomized with the delivery assembly to develop a treating mist having a plurality of atomized droplets. The atomized droplets are suspended within any path of the core gas turbine engine from the annular inlet to an axial position downstream of a compressor of the core gas turbine engine. A portion of the treating mist is impacted or precipitated onto the component so as to wet the component, and a portion of the deposits on the component is dissolved by the treating mist.
