摘要: A process of producing a filter tube comprises the steps of cutting a paper segment of given length and width from an endless paper supply. Next, a filter segment of cellulose acetate tow, for example, is centrally positioned on the paper segment. Opposed tube forming rollers engage the ends of the filter segment, and as these rollers rotate, the paper segment is formed into a tube shape. Overlapping portions of the paper segment are secured together, and the tube forming rollers are withdrawn from the tube to thereby complete the forming operation.

摘要: A method for dynamic pixel mass spectrometric imaging, or dynamic pixel imaging is disclosed. The method includes striking a sample to be scanned with a laser beam so that the laser beam releases analytes from the sample. The laser beam and the sample are then displaced relative to one another so that the laser beam substantially continuously traces a predefined path on the sample to release analytes from the sample along the predefined path. A mass analysis of the released analytes is performed.

摘要: A process of impregnating fine adsorbent particles such as carbon dust or APS silica gel powder into the micro-cavities of shaped fibers comprises the steps of continuously conveying shaped fibers with micro-cavities to a reservoir of the fine adsorbent particles. The fibers pass through the reservoir to thereby produce relative motion between the fibers and the particles. Additionally, impact forces are created between the shaped fibers and the fine particles to assist in impregnating the particles into the micro-cavities of the fibers. Any excess particles are removed from the fibers outside the reservoir, and subsequently the shaped fibers impregnated with fine adsorbent particles are collected for later use in filter applications such as cigarette filter and air filter applications, for example.

摘要: A variable ratio drive belt system is used to drive the water pump. The variable ratio drive belt system comprises a variable pitch water pump pulley, or driven pulley, a variable pitch crankshaft pulley, or driver pulley, and a drive belt that is coupled between a water pump and an engine crankshaft. By increasing and decreasing the size of the variable pitch water pump pulley and increasing the size of the variable pitch crankshaft pulley as a function of engine speed, the water pump speed can be increased at low engine speed to provide improved coolant flow and decreased at higher engine speeds to prevent pump cavitation.

摘要: A device for the prevention or treatment of ulcers includes an absorbent layer 20 and an upper layer 30, 84 which may be transparent or opaque, and is preferably curved downward to engage the absorbent layer and minimize contact to the ulcer. A sensor or signaling member is provided for outputting an electrical signal in response to the flexible deformation of the upper layer indicative of the excessive pressure. A warning member, such as a light or alarm, is responsive to the signaling member for notifying the patient or caregiver of excessive pressure. In another embodiment, the device includes a plurality of shear detector sensors for outputting an electrical signal in response to shear movement between the absorbent layer and the patient's skin.

摘要: A thyristor housing and method of its manufacture in which a gate tube passing through a radially directed bore in a tubular insulator is hermetically sealed by metal closures at each end to prevent accumulation of contaminants inside the gate tube during final plating the metal parts secured to said housing. The metal closure on the inwardly directed end of the gate tube is frangible for receiving a lead from the thyristor to be packaged in the housing.
