    摘要: The invention relates to a process for distillative workup of a methanol/water mixture, in which a methanol/water mixture is added to a distillation column (1), an essentially methanol-comprising vapor stream is withdrawn at the top of the distillation column (1) and an essentially water-comprising bottom stream at the bottom of the distillation column (1), at least a portion of the essentially methanol-comprising vapor stream is compressed and the compressed vapor stream is added as heating vapor to an evaporator (11) in which at least a portion of the methanol/water mixture to be separated is evaporated. The invention further relates to a process for preparing alkali metal methoxides in a reaction column (31) by adding methanol and alkali metal hydroxide solution to the reaction column (31), withdrawing alkali metal methoxide dissolved in methanol at the lower end of the reaction column (31) and withdrawing a methanol/water mixture at the upper end of the reaction column (31), and working up the methanol/water mixture by the process for distillative workup.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for increasing yield in the production of polyvalent alcohols, especially trimethylolpropane, obtained by condensing formaldehyde with a higher aldehyde. According to the inventive method, acid treatment is carried out on a mixture (high-boiling fraction) that is obtained by reprocessing, contains derivatives of said alcohols and has a higher boiling point than the respective alcohol, and the polyvalent alcohol is recovered from the acid-treated high-boiling fraction. The inventive method is characterised in that the water content of the high-boiling fraction amounts to between 20 and 90 wt. % in relation to the entire mixture of the high-boiling fraction and water.
