Abstract: A method for forming poly(dimethoxymethane) includes a step of separating a formaldehyde-containing blend into a first bottom stream and a first top stream. The first formaldehyde-containing blend includes methanol, formaldehyde, and water while the first bottom stream includes water. The first top stream includes dimethoxymethane that is produced from the reaction between methanol and formaldehyde. The first top stream is separated into a second bottom stream and a second top stream. The second bottom stream includes poly(dimethoxymethane) while the second top stream includes dimethoxymethane, methanol, and ethanol. The second top stream is separated into a third bottom stream and a third top stream. Third bottom stream includes methanol and ethanol while the third top stream includes dimethoxymethane. The third top steam can be recycled to form additional poly(dimethoxymethane). A system that implements the method is also provided.

The invention also relates to a method for controlling a reactive distillation column for effecting a transalcoholisation reaction, comprising feeding a metal methoxide into the reactive distillation column via a side feed; feeding a reactant alcohol into a lower part of the reactive distillation column; causing an auxiliary alcohol to be present in the reactive distillation column; and optionally replenishing the auxiliary alcohol via a side feed located above the feed of the reactant alcohol and below the top of the column; withdrawing methanol from the top of the reactive distillation column; and withdrawing a solution of a product metal alkoxide in the reactant alcohol from the bottom of the reactive distillation column; wherein the method comprises a process control scheme selected from: Scheme C: establishing a signal S2 which is responsive to a temperature at a point located between the feed of the metal methoxide and the bottom of the reactive distillation column; and manipulating in response to the signal S2 the feed amount of the reactant alcohol; Scheme D: establishing a signal S2 which is responsive to a temperature at a point located between the feed of the metal methoxide and the bottom of the reactive distillation column; and manipulating in response to the signal S2 the heat supplied to the bottom of the reactive distillation column. The methods of the invention allow for improved controlling of a reactive distillation column for effecting a transalcoholisation reaction.

The distillation during the collection of the first desired fraction is performed at a rate of less than 5 L/(hr*m2) of collected first fraction per first exposed area. Compatible still and kit are also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed is a distillation apparatus having a various heat exchange methods added to a process of producing dimethyl carbonate using reactive distillation and pressure-swing distillation. According to the disclosure, internal and external heat integration between a high-pressure and a low-pressure distillation column, which constitute pressure-swing distillation columns, is applied to a dimethyl carbonate production process, and a vapor recompression heat pump configured to compress and heat a fluid and transfer the heat to a fluid having a relatively low temperature is applied to achieve additional heat exchange with a reactive distillation column, thereby improving the dimethyl carbonate production process in terms of energy and economic efficiency by reducing energy consumption while reducing investment and operating costs of a reboiler and a condenser, which are required in a conventional process.

Abstract: A cracking process for a reaction distillation of chlorosilane slurry includes feeding a chlorosilane slurry into a phase separator, drying a solid phase, feeding a chlorosilane polymer into a plate distillation column, returning kettle materials of the plate distillation column, and dividing a material produced from a top of the column. The process adopts an ionic liquid catalyst, which is environmentally friendly and reusable. The cracking and distillation of chlorosilane polymer are carried out simultaneously to shorten the time and increase the utilization rate of raw materials, which can reduce energy consumption and save costs and facilitate industrial production. A plate column is used as a distillation column, in which the two phases of the gas and liquid are sufficiently contacted. Therefore, the transfer of mass and heat is good, the production capacity is good, and the tower is not easily blocked, thereby making it easy to clean.

Abstract: A method is described for producing a polycarbonate by reacting one or more diaryl carbonates with one or more aromatic hydroxy compounds, which are first mixed in a mixing device and enter, as a raw material mixture, a raw material mixture container to subsequently react in one or more reactors under reduced pressure and increased temperature to form polycarbonate, wherein the mixture of diaryl carbonate and aromatic hydroxy compound is subjected to a purification by an inert gas in a countercurrent process, in a stripping device, before entering the raw material mixture container. The present invention also relates to a stripping device which is particularly suitable for purifying a raw material mixture stream, and to the use of such a stripping device in a method for producing polycarbonate.
