    摘要: To achieve an improved utilization of a radio link channel in a wireless packet oriented transmission system data packets are transmitted between a transmission apparatus (10) and a mobile unit (14), respectively. Then it is determined whether a data packet transmission between the transmission apparatus (10) and the mobile unit (14) has been carried out successfully. Here, a transmission channel (16) is reassigned to another mobile unit (14) in a case that it is determined that the transmission of the data packet was not successful and further a retransmission of a data packet is estimated to be not successful.

The network-side agent (160) manages the feed-based automatic transmission of content to the mobile terminal and is configured to periodically generate a feed request to a feed server, to receive a requested feed from the feed server in response to the feed request, and to transmit the received feed to the mobile terminal. The network component (150) may also comprise a cache memory (164) for storing copies of feeds and contents and a proxy for processing feed requests and content requests received from the mobile terminal (110).

    摘要: A network node (28) of a wireless telecommunication network (20) uses a first coding scheme (selected from plural possible coding schemes) for encoding of a point-to-multipoint (PTM) transmission carried to plural mobile stations (30) on a common downlink channel (32). The mobile stations (30) receiving the point-to-multipoint transmission on the common downlink channel (32) evaluate the link quality of the point-to-multipoint transmission. Feedback from the plural mobile stations (30) regarding the link quality of the point-to-multipoint transmission is provided to the network node (28) on a common uplink channel (36). A controller (48) at the network node (28) monitors information received on the common uplink channel for feedback regarding the link quality of the point-to-multipoint transmission. The controller (48) at the network node (28) uses the feedback to determine whether to change from the first coding scheme to a second coding scheme for the encoding of the point-to-multipoint transmission to the plural mobile stations (30).

    摘要: The application describes a method and system for controlling a processing of video data such that the video data may be transmitted over a connection in a communication network, where the connection employs a plurality of protocol layers. The processing of video data for transmission is performed at a first layer. A value or values of one or more transmission condition parameters indicative of transmission conditions in the network are acquired, where these transmission condition parameters are specific for a second layer provided lower than the first layer. Then one or more values of one or more video control parameters usable at the first layer are derived from the value of the least one transmission condition parameter and the processing of video data is performed in accordance with the derived one or more values.

    摘要: Delays associated with real-time, interactive communications are reduced. A communications device A engages in a real-time, interactive communication with a communication device B. User A provides digital content to be transmitted to device B. A real-time, interactive connection is established between A and B which takes a certain delay time. That delay time is compensated for so that user B receives A's digital content and can respond to it faster than B could without the delay time compensation. This faster response by the B to A's communication enhances the interactive, real time, conversational feel of their communication.
