    摘要: A device for detecting a collision with a vehicle includes a pressure sensor for detecting compression of a substantially closed measuring volume upon collision. The measuring volume is arranged along a part of the vehicle body that is impacted during the collision. The cross-sectional area of the measuring volume, along its longitudinal direction, has a comparatively larger area in the vicinity of those parts of the vehicle body that are comparatively rigid and therefore comparatively difficult to deform during collision.

    摘要: A control assembly for a passenger protection system of a vehicle which is tripped upon the occurrence of a side impact traffic accident. The control assembly has at least one detector adapted to detect a pressure rise in a hollow body. The at least one detector is mounted in a largely enclosed side portion on the side of the vehicle body defining a hollow body such as a door. A control unit is connected to and receives signals from the at least one detector. The control unit evaluates a sudden and largely adiabatic air pressure rise detected by the detector upon a side impact collision and determines whether to actuate a passenger protection system such as an air bag.

    摘要: A motor vehicle occupant protection system and a method for triggering the system include an accident sensor and a control device. The latter controls system triggering as a function of a sensor output signal. The control device has an input terminal connected via a communication line to a sensor status signal output terminal. In the system and method, the sensor has internally checks errors at regular and/or irregular intervals, and, upon detection, permanently generates a status signal for the control device, which checks the status before triggering a vehicle occupant protection system when it receives a signal fulfilling system triggering criteria. The control device enables/disables the triggering as a function of the check result. Specifically, the control device disables the firing standby state and generates a warning signal. In the event of an accident, before the vehicle occupant protection system is fired, the status signal is interrogated once more, i.e., sensor status is checked. If the accident sensor does not signal an error, the triggering takes place, but otherwise it is disabled. As a result, undesired triggering of the vehicle occupant protection system can be avoided.

    摘要: A mechanical inertia switch in a housing has an elastic tongue with an inertial mass as well as a contact piece. The elastic tongue has a stable neutral position and can be moved in the direction of the contact piece against a force, for example a magnetic force or a force due to preloading of the elastic tongue, which acts in addition to a spring force of the elastic tongue. The compact mechanical inertia switch has a small number of components and short switching times. The elastic tongue is prevented from oscillating. It is thus possible to use the mechanical inertia switch as a safing sensor for detecting side impact.
