Abstract:
The invention is directed to a process for the production of aluminium alcoholates by reacting aluminium in comminuted form with an excess of an aliphatic C.sub.3 to C.sub.10 alcohol in which the aluminium is supplied to the reactor from above and is brought into contact with an aluminium alcoholate/alcohol mixture above a perforated plate or grid tray (screen) in the reactor. The aluminium, or preferably a suspension of alcohol and finely divided aluminium, is supplied to the reactor and fed from above to a bubble bed made of a mixture of aluminium alcoholate and alcohol in the area of the perforated plate, whereby the mixture of aluminium alcoholate and alcohol in the reactor sump or overflowing in part is recycled to the reactor over the bubble bed and optionally, preferably with the aluminium suspension, returned from above to the reactor and in part is isolated. There is also described a reactor suitable for carrying out the process. The reactor has a basket like perforated plate in a tray and inlet lines for maintaining a sufficient amount of liquid in the tray or the bubble bed above the perforated plate or grid tray.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and device for dissolving solid bodies with a liquid, in particular for bringing solid bodies of different shapes and sizes, but mainly very course bodies, in contact with liquids, in order to dissolve them by a chemical reaction or dispersion. The device comprises a closed container (1) that is partially filled with the liquid and into which the solid bodies are introduced before being received inside the container (1) into a basket (2) that is movable relative to the container (1), and the solid bodies inside the basket (2) are brought into contact with the liquid. For the solid bodies to be introduced more easily, quickly and also more uniformly into the basket inside the container (1), in order to be dissolved, the basket (2) is suspended inside the container (1) in an oscillating manner, such that it can be moved back and forth, after it is filled with a bulk load of solid bodies, in alternating directions of rotation relative to the container (1).

Abstract:
The instant invention relates to an apparatus for contacting solids in the form of flowable lumps with liquids and, optionally, gases, particularly for producing aluminum alcoholates by reacting aluminum with an excess of an aliphatic C3 to C10 alcohol, wherein solids charged to a reactor from the top are contacted in a spouted bed with liquid or a mixture of liquids and a rotary grate is provided for holding at least temporarily the aluminum lumps in the form of ingot off-cuts.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to an apparatus for contacting in a reactor solids in the form of free-flowing lumps with liquids or for contacting solids with liquids and gases by bringing the reactants into contact with each other, said reactor comprising a housing containing a screen in the area of which contacting takes place whereinthe screen is a rotary screen drum 5,the screen drum 5 rotates in a bottom vat during the operation, said vat holding a gaseous or liquid medium reacting with the solids, andthe bottom vat 10 can be lowered such that the solids in the screen drum 5 and the medium in the bottom vat 10 can be separated from each other whenever it is desired to alter or interrupt the chemical reaction or physical process.
