Abstract: A system including an image capture module and a handheld module. The image capture module includes a body; an image sensor; and a mechanical stabilization system comprising a first gimbal, a second gimbal, and a third gimbal connected to the body and configured to control an orientation of the image sensor of the image capture module relative to the body. The handheld module defines a slot that is keyed to the body of the image capture module. The image capture module, when located within the handheld module, has a low profile so that the third gimbal is protected from damage by the handheld module.

Abstract: A handheld module including a battery, an electro-mechanical interface, and a display. The electro-mechanical interface is configured to attach the handheld module to an image capture module, wherein when attached to the image capture module, the handheld module forms a communication link to the image capture module via the electro-mechanical interface and supplies power from the battery to the image capture module via conductors of the electro-mechanical interface. The display is configured to present images captured by the image capture module and received from the image capture module via the communication link.

Abstract: A wireless communication system may include a housing, a touch sensitive display included within the housing, multiple radio frequency transceivers included within the housing, multiple input mechanisms included within the housing, and a processor included within the housing. The processor may be configured to obtain visual information captured by an image capture subsystem of the unmanned aerial vehicle, display the visual information via the touch sensitive display, detect parameters of a touch on the touch sensitive display, determine inputs based upon the parameters of the touch and when one or more of the multiple input mechanisms are engaged, transmit instructions to the unmanned aerial vehicle based upon the inputs, establish a connection with a device, and transmit to the device instructions configured to cause the device to control the image capture subsystem.

The processor may be configured to obtain visual information captured by an image capture subsystem of the unmanned aerial vehicle, display the visual information via the touch sensitive display, obtain current flight control settings of the unmanned aerial vehicle, obtain current power consumption of a power source of the unmanned aerial vehicle, determine an amount of remaining power of the power source, and effectuate presentation of a power display field over the visual information. A length of a first portion across the power display field may be proportional to the amount of remaining power of the power source.
