摘要: Disclosed is a method of creating video object units (VOBU) in high-definition DVD (HD-DVD) systems. HD enhanced data in the form of data packets are multiplexed and stored with standard-definition (SD) data in a VOBU. In the VOBU, the spa ce where the video pocket (V-PCK) and the for SD data related video packet (V-P CK-HD) for HD-enhanced data are stored is shortened as possible. This will increase the efficiency of a future enhanced DVD video player that supports the HD-DVD optical disc format to fetch, decode and synchronize the SD and HD enhanced data. Furthermore, the optical disc created in this kind of data storing has good backward compatibility.

摘要: An apparatus and method for processing a multimedia digital bitstream is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a processing chain made up of a plurality of media processors. Each media processor processes a portion of the multimedia digital bitstream in real time. Each portion of the multimedia digital bitstream is split into a primary bitstream and a secondary bitstream. The primary bitstream is processed and merged with the unprocessed secondary bitstream. The parallel processing method of the present invention enables the processing chain to output a fully processed bitstream in real time. The processing chain may be used to transcode a high definition (HD) video bitstream in real time using a plurality of bitrate transcoder units.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for compressing the video stream with the spatial stratification, firstly, encoding said video stream after drop-sampling to obtain a base stream; then, decoding and rise-sampling said base stream to obtain a reconstructed stream; subtracting the reconstructed stream from said video stream to obtain a residual stream; next, carrying out the edge detection and analysis for said video stream to obtain the gain value of each pixel in the video stream; finally, multiplying said gain value by said residual stream and encoding the obtained result to obtain an enhanced stream. The invention further finely fractionizes the type of each pixel to obtain its corresponding more accurate gain value, thereby further decrease the number of the transmitted data and the transmitting bit rate required by the enhanced layer based on the premise that the quality of mages can be ensured.

摘要: This invention provides a method that when the disturbance of the bandwidth or the signal quality occurs during the digital program broadcasting, so that the broadcasting quality of the currently broadcast normal program is below a predetermined value, a prearranged program having a specific broadcasting quality, such as advertisements, will be inserted. The prearranged program may have an regular relation to the currently broadcast normal program, thereby the user would rather appreciate some program than suffer bad screen showing or wait until the program returns back to a good condition to be watched normally. This invention further provides a method for making statistics of the inserted prearranged program, said statistical information could be used for charging.
