    摘要： An image display apparatus capable of switching a display mode between a directional display mode where a first image is displayed in a first viewing direction and a second image is displayed in a second viewing direction and a non-directional display mode where the same image is displayed in both the first and second viewing directions. The apparatus includes an image forming unit and an optical member. The optical member is disposed adjacent to an emitting side of the image forming unit and is used for switching the display mode. The optical member includes two light-transmitting plate members, a lens member disposed between the two plate members, a refractive-index variable medium sealed in a gap between the lens member and the two plate members, and a refractive-index adjusting unit that adjusts a refractive index of the refractive-index variable medium. in order to switch between the directional and non-directional display mode.

    摘要： A three-dimensional sense adjusting unit displays three-dimensional images to a user. If a displayed reaches a limit of parallax, the user responds to the three-dimensional sense adjusting unit. According to acquired appropriate parallax information, a parallax control unit generates parallax images to realize the appropriate parallax in the subsequent stereo display. The control of parallaxes is realized by optimally setting camera parameters by going back to three-dimensional data. Functions to realize the appropriate parallax are made into and presented by a library.

    摘要： When “0” indicating that intensity of a stereoscopic effect is the lowest is applied as a stereoscopic effect tag, a stereoscopic image is allowed to be displayed as it is. On the other hand, when “1, 2, and 3” are applied as the stereoscopic effect tag, a reduction ratio is determined depending on a value of the stereoscopic effect tag (one-half, one-third, etc.). On the basis of this reduction ratio, the stereoscopic image is displayed and letters of “warning” are displayed. A user selects whether to display the stereoscopic image according to a producer's intention or to maintain the size-reduced stereoscopic image. If an operation requiring for a display of the stereoscopic image as it is intended by the producer is performed, an original stereoscopic image is displayed.

    摘要： A directional display device configured to display a plurality of directional images simultaneously is provided. The directional display device includes a liquid crystal panel having a liquid crystal layer and a light reflecting membrane arranged behind the liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal panel is configured to form the plurality of images by using a plurality of pixel dots. The directional display device includes a barrier portion arranged in front of the liquid crystal panel. The barrier portion has a plurality of light shields and a plurality of apertures. Each of the apertures is arranged in such a way that one of the apertures is associated with n (an integer being no less than two) pixel dots if n images are displayed. Each of the light shields has behind thereof a luminescent layer for illuminating the liquid crystal panel.
