A method for determining damage in a structural health monitoring system comprising a plurality of sensors distributed across a structure is disclosed. The method includes decomposing the plurality of sensors into a plurality of sub-arrays. Each sub-array is associated with a current sensor. For each sub-array, data is collected, the data corresponding to electrical signals produced by waves initiated by the current sensor and detected by a receiving sensor. The data is used to calculate a damage measurement for the sub-array. Then, the damage measurement determined for each sub-array is combined to determining an overall damage assessment from the combined damage measurements.

An improved band seal clamp for clamping of tubular members is disclosed which features a band-like clamping member having slots formed in its ends for interaction with bolts held rigidly in holes formed in a spacing member disposed between the ends of the clamp. The ends of the band are shaped to define surfaces at an angle with respect to the surface of the tubular members which coact with force bars having corresponding shapes. Throughbolts fit through the slots in the band, holes in the force bars and the holes in the spacing member, so that upon tightening of the bolts the ends of the band clamp are forced outward, thus exerting a compressive stress on the tubular member.

The apparatus may comprise rollers operable to convey the welded cruciform article through the apparatus at a speed such that the weld seam is subjected to heating for a predetermined heat time sufficient to cause a formation of martensite there within, and such that the heated portion reaches the quenching chamber and is quenched to create a substantial amount of martensite, e.g., an amount sufficient to cause expansion of the part.
