Abstract:
Preparation of allyl esters of carboxylic acids in the gaseous phase by reacting propylene, oxygen and carboxylic acids at elevated temperatures in the presence of a catalyst consisting of an inert carrier and a salt of a noble metal of the 8th group of the periodic system and 0.01 to 20 per cent by weight of bismuth.
Abstract:
A process for the manufacture of allyl chloride or methallyl chloride, which comprises reacting allyl acetate or methallyl acetate with dry gaseous hydrogen chloride in the presence of 0.01 to 10 percent by weight of a catalyst comprising a mixture of a salt of monovalent or bivalent copper selected from the group consisting of CuCl, CuCl2, CuBr, CuBr2, CuOOC.CH3, Cu(OOC.CH3)2, Cu2SO4, CuSO4 and mixtures thereof, with a halogen containing Lewis acid selected from the group consisting of FeCl3, AlCl3, AlBr3, ZnCl2, TiCl4, BeCl2, ZrCl4, SbCl5 and BiCl3 at temperatures within the range of from 20* to 200* C. wherein the copper salt in the mixture is present in proportionate amounts equal to or less than the Lewis acid component.
Abstract:
THE SUBJECT OF THE INVENTION IS A PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF METHYL OR ETHYL CHLORIDE FROM METHYL OR ETHYL ACETAURE BY A REACTION WITH HYDROGEN CHLONIDE IN THE VAPOR PHASE AT TEMPERATURE WITHIN THE RANGE OF FROM 120* TO 360*C. AND UNDER PRESURES OF FROM 0 TO 20 ATMOSPHERES GAUGE, USING AS CATALYST TECHNICALLY PURE SILICIC ACID WHICH WAS IMPREGNATED WITH FROM 5 TO 15% BY WEIGHT OF ZINC CHLORIDE. THE SILICIC ACID SHOULD HAVE A SPECIFIC SURFACE OF FROM 20 TO 800 M.2 PER GRAM AND AN AVERAGE PORE DIMETER OF FROM 5 TO 2,000 A.
Abstract:
Improvement of a process for the preparation of unsaturated nitriles from hydrocyanic acid and esters of unsaturated alcohols and carboxylic acids in the gaseous phase in the presence of carrier catalysts containing copper(II) salts, cobalt salts or mixtures of both salts, by additionally passing hydrogen halide, water or oxygen or oxygen containing gases, in admixture or as single components, over the catalyst either simultaneously with the reactants or alternately one after the other.
Abstract:
MIXED ANHYDRIDES OF SORBIC ACID WITH PALMITIC ACID OR STEARIC ACID ARE MANUFACTURED BY REACTING THE ACID CHLORIDE IN A NONPOLAR ORGANIC SOLVENT WITH SODIUM SORBATE OR POTASSIUM SORBATE, THE RESULTING ANHYDRIDE CONTAINING 10 TO 20% BY WEIGHT OF THE ALKALI CHLORIDE. THE MIXTURE IS USED FOR PRESERVING BREAD AND PASTRY.
