Abstract: Polymer composition for an electrode, method, and a lithium-ion battery including same are provided. This composition includes an active material having a graphite usable in the anode, an electrically conductive filler and a cross-linked elastomer binder that includes a hydrogenated acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer (HNBR). The binder includes a non-hydrogenated acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer (NBR) and/or an HNBR with an acrylonitrile content that is at least 40% by weight and cross-linked by thermal oxidation. This method includes: a) mixing the active material, the binder in a non-cross-linked state and the electrically conductive filler, to obtain a precursor mixture of the composition, b) depositing the mixture on a metal current collector so that the mixture forms a non-cross-linked film, then c) thermal oxidation of the non-cross-linked film under an atmosphere containing oxygen at a temperature of between 200 and 300° C., to obtain the electrode in which the binder is cross-linked.

The first electrode includes a first collector and a first coating which comprises first ingredients, and the method comprises:
a) separating the first coating from the first collector,
b) melt mixing, without solvent, the recovered first coating with new second ingredients comprising a second active material, a second binder comprising a permanent binder and a sacrificial binder, and an electrically-conductive second additive to obtain the precursor mixture, then
c) eliminating the sacrificial binder to obtain the composition forming a second electrode coating.-

Abstract: The invention relates to an electrode composition for lithium-ion battery, a process for preparing the composition, such an electrode and a lithium-ion battery incorporating same. The composition comprises an active substance able to perform reversible insertion/deinsertion of lithium in the electrode, an electrically conductive filler and a polymeric binder comprising at least one modified polyolefin, and it is such that the modified polyolefin (If1) is derived from a nonpolar aliphatic polyolefin and incorporates oxygenated CO and OH groups, having a content by weight of oxygen atoms of between 2% and 10% inclusive. The modified polyolefin may be the product of a controlled thermal oxidation reaction, under an atmosphere comprising oxygen and at a temperature of between 200° C. and 300° C., of the nonpolar aliphatic polyolefin with oxygen.
