    Abstract: A servo valve assembly includes a housing defining a cylindrical cavity having a central axis, and a spool disposed in the cavity and co-axially aligned with the central axis. A pair of transition portions define opposing conical cavity surfaces each connect a respective one of first and second cylindrical cavity portions with a third cylindrical cavity portion. The spool comprises a pair of blocking members projecting radially, and each of the blocking members defines a conical blocking surface opposing a respective one of the conical cavity surfaces to define a fluid flow passage therebetween. A cone angle of each conical blocking surface relative to the central is equal to a cone angle of the opposing conical cavity surface relative to the central axis. The spool is moveable along the central axis to vary a flow area of the flow passages between the conical blocking surfaces and the conical cavity surfaces.

    Abstract: A plug for retaining a filter screen in a fluid port of a servovalve, comprises an annular body, the annular body comprising: opposed first and second axial end surfaces, a radially inner surface extending between the first and second axial end surfaces, a radially outer surface extending between the first and second axial end surfaces and at least one recess formed in the radially inner surface for receiving a tool for removing the plug from the port. A tool for removing the plug comprises a pair of handles pivotally mounted to one another about a pivot, each handle having a plug gripping portion extending therefrom beyond the pivot, each plug gripping portion comprising an outwardly projecting tooth for engaging in the recess of the plug when the plug gripping portions are moved apart by operation of the handles.

The member comprises flat surfaces parallel to the axis (X). A channel is formed within the cavity and a plurality of ports each forming a fluid passage through the valve housing in fluid communication with a spool and with the channel. The plurality of ports include first and second nozzles with nozzle openings, wherein in a first axial position of the member the first nozzle opening is at least substantially obstructed by the first flat surface, and in a second axial position of the member the second nozzle opening is at least substantially obstructed by the second surface, the member controlling fluid between the spool and the channel.

    Abstract: A nozzle for a servo valve comprises an annular body defining an outer circumferential surface and an inner circumferential surface of the nozzle. An annular groove is disposed around the circumference of the annular body in the outer circumferential surface. A nozzle assembly (N) for a servo valve comprises the nozzle and a nozzle housing having a nozzle cavity defined by an inner circumferential cavity surface. The nozzle housing has an annular groove disposed around the circumference of the nozzle cavity in the inner circumferential cavity surface. The nozzle is received within the nozzle cavity such that the annular grooves in the nozzle and the nozzle housing are in fluid communication with each other.

The torque motor section may comprise first and second opposing pole pieces and first and second permanent magnets may be positioned between these first and second pole pieces.
