Process for rinsing textiles using the crystalline laminated silic acid or its alkali metal salts as a textile softening agent.

Moldings are described which are composed of a silicic acid with a layer structure, or salts thereof with the general formula (H,M).sub.2 Si.sub.y O.sub.2y+1, or the corresponding hydrates, M representing lithium, sodium, potassium or ammonium and y being 1.7 to 24. They can be prepared for example by extruding pulverulent layer silicic acids, or salts thereof with the general formula (H,M).sub.2 Si.sub.y O.sub.2y+1, or the corresponding hydrates, M representing lithium, sodium, potassium or ammonium and y being 1.7 to 24, to produce cylindrical blanks, if appropriate after moistening with water or an organic solvent, and then drying the blanks, or by introducing the same starting materials into a mold, as dry or moist powders, converting them to moldings with the application of pressure and, if appropriate, drying the moldings.

A process for the preparation of a crystalline sheet-type alkali metal silicate in an aqueous medium is described, in which an acidic compound is added to an amorphous alkali metal silicate, or an alkali metal silicate dissolved in water, having a molar ratio M.sub.2 O/SiO.sub.2 (M=alkali metal) of 0.24 to 2.0, in an amount such that a molar ratio M.sub.2 O (unneutralized)/SiO.sub.2 of 0.05 to 0.239 is obtained. If required, the molar ratio SiO.sub.2 /H.sub.2 O is adjusted from 1:5 to 1:100 by dilution, and the reaction mixture is kept at a reaction temperature of 70.degree. to 250.degree. C. until the sheet-type alkali metal silicate has crystallized out.

These organophilic phyllosilicic acids are capable of binding considerable amounts of organic compounds, such as, for example, fats or softeners. The invention provides a process for the manufacture of a crystalline, phosphorus-containing zeolite of the ZSM-5 type by mixing water, a silicon dioxide source, an alkali metal hydroxide and an aluminum compound, and reacting this mixture at a temperature of from 95.degree. to 230.degree. C. until the zeolite has crystallized, which comprises carrying out the reaction without addition of an organic compound but in the presence of aluminum phosphate. The zeolite obtained has the following molar ratios:SiO.sub.2 :Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 from 15 to 200,M.sub.2 O:SiO.sub.2 from 10.sup.-6 to 1 andH.sub.2 O:SiO.sub.2 from 0 to 40(M being an alkali metal). Cogranulates of high bulk density which easily disintegrate in water and comprise aluminosilicates and crystalline sodium silicates having a layered structure. The aluminosilicates contained therein are those of the formula M.sub.2/n O.Al.sub.2 O.sub.3. XSiO.sub.2. yH.sub.2 O in which M is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, n indicates the valency of the cation, x is.gtoreq.2 and y has a value of between 0 and 8. The sodium silicates have an SiO.sub.2 /Na.sub.2 O ratio of (1.8 to 4.2):1. These cogranulates are prepared by mixing the pulverulent aluminosilicates and sodium silicates with one another and introducing the mixture into a zone in which it is compacted between two rolls rotating in opposite directions to form a compact. After comminution of the compact, the desired particle sizes are finally separated off from the oversize and undersize material. The cogranulates can be used in detergents and cleaning agents.
