摘要: A process for producing laminates which contain at least one centrally arranged, ion-conductive membrane which is, at least over a substantial part of its two mutually opposite flat faces, electrically conductively bonded to at least one catalytically active substance and to at least one two-dimensional, gas-permeable, electron-conductive contacting material, the bonding of at least two of the said components having been effected by lamination. The process comprises carrying out the bonding of the ion-conductive membrane, of the catalytically active substance and of the electron-conductive contacting material continuously. The ion-conductive membrane is brought together with at least the electron-conductive contacting material in the exact position by means of transport and feeding devices and the two components are laminated and bonded to one another by pressing them together. The range of variation in the a.c. resistances of the laminates produced by the process according to the invention is ±10%. The laminates are particularly suitable for use in fuel cells or electrolysers.

摘要: A thermal management matrix for an electrochemical cell array including a plurality of electrochemical cell elements, the thermal management matrix at least in part enveloping the electrochemical cell array and being in thermal contact therewith. The thermal management matrix includes mainly expanded graphite, wherein the expanded graphite is arranged in the form of a block-like structure and the block includes at least one layer of expanded graphite having a higher in-plane thermal conductivity than the layers neighboring the layer with higher in-plane thermal conductivity. The thermal management matrix may also include phase change materials as a latent heat storage material.

摘要: A packing yarn and a method of manufacturing a packing yarn utilize at least two bands that are at most 5 mm wide and are joined together by a yarn manufacturing method. The bands are formed of a laminate having at least one layer of flexible graphite foil and at least one layer of a plastic foil with a tensile strength of at least 25 MPa and an elastic modulus of at least 0.4 GPa. The layers of graphite foil and plastic foil are joined by adhesive bonding, by a non-adhesive-like coupling agent or by welding. The bands are produced from the laminates by cutting, which is preferably effected continuously. The advantages thereof are that strips or bands of flexible graphite which have a tensile strength totally inadequate for the manufacture of packing yarns are altered in terms of their mechanical properties in such a way that they may be processed by known methods in an efficient manner into packing yarns, solely through reinforcement with a plastic foil and without using further reinforcing agents such as, for example, yarns, fibers or wires.

摘要: A multilayer sheet having high compressive strength, high heat resistance and low permeability relative to fluids, includes layers of graphite foils and metal foils disposed alternating one upon another and parallel, with the graphite foils joined to the metal foils. Each of two layers forming an upper and a lower boundary of the multilayer sheet is a metal foil having a flat outwardly-directed surface completely covered with and joined to a gas-tight foil made of an organic polymer having a long-term temperature stability of at least 150° C. Preferably, no adhesives are used for joining the foils. The multilayer sheet is preferably used for producing flat gaskets.
