    摘要: A method of making a plurality of toothed belt constructions and a set of such belt constructions are provided, the method including the steps of disposing tubular sleeves of stretchable fabric material respectively onto a plurality of toothed mold members having different diameters, forcing mold material against the outside surfaces of the sleeves to tend to stretch the fabric material into the grooves of the toothed mold members as the mold material enters the grooves of the mold members so that the resulting toothed belt constructions will have the fabric material thereof carried in certain positions relative to the respective teeth thereof, and forming the sleeves from the same fabric material and with the same diameters in the nonstretched condition thereof.

    摘要: An endless positive drive power transmission belt is described for use with a cooperating pulley member, wherein the endless positive drive transmission belt comprises an elastomeric body portion, a plurality of longitudinally extending spaced apart tensile members, and a layer of wear-resistant fabric material positioned on the cooperating pulley member engaging surface of said belt, wherein a layer of a high ethylene-containing elastomer composition is bonded to a surface of the layer of wear-resistant fabric material in such a manner that the surface layer of the high ethylene-containing elastomer is disposed between the layer of wear-resistant fabric material and the cooperating pulley member. A method for coating a wear-resistant fabric material with a high ethylene-containing elastomer is also described.

    摘要: A heat exchanger apparatus for a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine including a radiator axially spaced from the engine, an engine-driven, suction-type fan axially spaced intermediate the engine and the radiator for drawing cooling air axially through the radiator, fan shroud means shaped and positioned with respect to the radiator and blades of the fan whereby the air stream discharged by the fan is in a radial outward direction, and an air baffle positioned intermediate the fan and engine for mitigating air recirculation in the fan hub region; the fan shroud structure is formed to provide a generally cylindrical exit throat section (CF), a radial flat discharge section (RF), and a radial expander or diverging section (R), serving as a transition between the throat section and the discharge section, and wherein the impeller blades of the fan have a projected or effective axial width (AW); the various shroud structure sections are dimensioned with respect to such projected or effective axial width (AW) of the fan blades and the fan blades are positioned with respect to the shroud structure sections in the following manner: CF=AW/3, RF=AW/3, R=2AW/3, and the radial plane defining one axial limit of the projected or effective axial width (AW) of the fan blades substantially contains the radial discharge section (RF).

    摘要: A heat exchanger apparatus for a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine including a radiator axially spaced from the engine, an engine driven, suction type fan axially spaced intermediate the engine and radiator for drawing cooling air axially through the radiator, and fan shroud means shaped and positioned with respect to the radiator and the blades of the fan whereby the major component of the air stream discharged by the fan is in a direction reversed to the direction to the major component of the air stream entering the radiator. The fan shroud structure is formed to provide a generally cylindrical exit throat section (CF), a radial flat discharge section (RF), and a radial expander or diverging section (R) serving as a transition between the throat section and the radial exit section and wherein the propeller-type blades of the fan have a projected axial width (AW). The various shroud structure sections are dimensioned with respect to such projected axial width (AW) of the fan blades and the fan blades are positioned with respect to such shroud structure sections in the following manner: CF = AW/3, RF = AW/3, R = 2AW/3, and the radial plane containing the trailing edges of the fan blades is axially spaced outwardly from the radial plane containing the radial exit section (RF) a distance X.sub.E and wherein the magnitude of X.sub.E is between 60 and 75 percent of the projected axial width (AW) of the fan blades.
