    摘要: A method of authenticating an automotive device connected to an engine control system that stores an authentication code in memory of the automotive device that is generated by an encryption algorithm using an identification code of the automotive device as a seed value. The engine controller determines a verification code using a complementary encryption algorithm that also uses the identification code received from the automotive device as a seed value. The engine controller compares the authentication code to the verification code, and indicates that the automotive device is not authentic if the authentication code does not correspond to the verification code. Advantageously, authenticating the automotive device will be done autonomously by the engine controller without prompting by a technician using special equipment such as a laptop computer.

    摘要: A method/system for measuring cylinder pressures of an internal combustion engine includes a crank angle sensor utilized to generate pressure readings at known angular intervals. Additional time-based pressure measurements are taken in selected angular windows between a pair of the angle-based pressure readings. Because the angle-based pressure measurements and the time-based pressure measurements occur at known times, the pressure as a function of the crank angle for the time-based pressure measurements can be determined. The cylinder pressure measurements can be utilized to calculate combustion parameters used for closed-loop engine control of fuel supply or other engine inputs.

    摘要: A personal mobility device, such as a wheelchair or a scooter, is disclosed. The personal mobility device includes at least one angle sensor to detect if the personal mobility device has overturned, and at least one accelerometer to detect if the personal mobility device has been struck in an accident. The angle sensor and the accelerometer sensor or coupled to a processor, and transmit data to the processor. A communication module is coupled to the processor and automatically signals a remote party for assistance when activated by the processor in response to an indication that the personal mobility device has overturned or been struck. The personal mobility device further includes a mast having a video device mounted atop thereof and in communication with a display to provide a video signal from an elevated position to the display, and a current sensor and a remote battery disconnect switch to reduce the potential for electrical fire.

    摘要: To test a controller for a motor having a position feedback signal, a simulation circuit programmable by test equipment replaces the actual motor and emulates motors of various types. Motor direction command signals from the controller are detected by comparators in the simulation circuit and a counter is incremented or decremented according to the detected command. The initial count value, representing a beginning motor position and the count rate of change, representing motor speed, are programmed by the test equipment. The count is converted with high resolution to an analog feedback signal which is coupled to the controller.

    摘要: A transportation system and a method of transporting a handicapped individual are disclosed. The transportation system includes a navigational apparatus having a location sensor coupled to a personal mobility device. The location sensor detects signals emitted from a plurality of beacons disposed throughout the building. The signals include information, which permits the navigational assembly to calculate the location of the personal mobility device within the building. The navigational system then guides the personal mobility device along a pre-determined travel route to the desired location within the building, re-calculating the travel route as necessary to avoid obstacles encountered along the way.
