    摘要: A charging strategy for a rechargeable battery pack is disclosed. The battery pack is used in an application that includes a dynamoelectric machine that may operate as a motor, drawing power from the battery pack, or as a generator, delivering regenerative energy to the battery pack. The strategy monitors the nature, intensity, duration and frequency, among other things, associated with encountered episodes of regenerative energy from the dynamoelectric machine, and adjusts subsequent recharging processes to allow a calculated amount of headroom to accommodate regenerative energy inputs in the future, which may be assumed to be equal in nature, intensity, duration and frequency to what has already been observed. Overcharging is reduced or eliminated, while maximizing the amount of charge on the battery pack, and thus duration of use.

    摘要: A method of authenticating an automotive device connected to an engine control system that stores an authentication code in memory of the automotive device that is generated by an encryption algorithm using an identification code of the automotive device as a seed value. The engine controller determines a verification code using a complementary encryption algorithm that also uses the identification code received from the automotive device as a seed value. The engine controller compares the authentication code to the verification code, and indicates that the automotive device is not authentic if the authentication code does not correspond to the verification code. Advantageously, authenticating the automotive device will be done autonomously by the engine controller without prompting by a technician using special equipment such as a laptop computer.

    摘要: A method for compensating fuel injection timing when a torque signal or throttle command indicates that a transient operation is about to transpire. The control adjusts the fuel injection timing in advance of the transient operation to prevent loss of torque due to change in combustion phase position. During engine operation in pre-mix mode of combustion, rapid changes in fueling quantity can affect the combustion angle as well as the temperature in the combustion chamber, causing late or early combustion phasing. The present invention anticipates a change in combustion phasing by sensing a change in demanded fueling rate. The Engine Control Module (ECM) then applies a nest of algorithms to advance fuel injection timing during acceleration or to shorten ignition delay for deceleration by retarding fuel injection timing. As the engine returns to steady state operation, the compensation in injection timing is progressively reduced to zero.

    摘要: An improved method and apparatus for providing reformate into an engine exhaust stream including aftertreatment devices such as a particulate trap and an NOx filter regenerable by hydrogen-rich reformate injected into the engine exhaust ahead of the aftertreatment devices. A pump pressurizes a hydrocarbon catalytic reformer, and a three-way valve for dividing the reformate injected into the engine exhaust. The reformer draws oxygen from the engine exhaust rather than ambient air as in the prior art. Thus, the only pressure drop that the pump/reformer system must overcome is within the reformate supply system between the reformer take-off point and the reformate entry points. In a configuration wherein the exhaust is taken off ahead of the inline particulate trap, a separate particulate filter is preferably incorporated into the reformer supply line.
