Abstract: A storage library system comprises a plurality of slots for storing items, a plurality of rails, and a robot for interacting with said items. The robot has at least two foot arrangements each having a respective gripping mechanism for releasably engaging that foot arrangement with the rails. The robot also has a transfer mechanism for moving the robot, while a first one or more of the foot arrangements remains engaged with a first of the rails, from a first position in which one or more of the foot arrangements is in abutment with a second of the rails to a second position in which one or more of the foot arrangements is in abutment with a third of the rails. The robot also has an end-effector for interacting with the items in the slots.

Abstract: Conventional television audience measurements are made with diaries or by imaging the area in front of a television and trying to identify the people in the images watching television. Unfortunately, diaries are only accurate if the audience members record entries in them, and image-based techniques are intrusive. The present techniques address these problems by using a viewer's wearable device to measure a viewer's proximity to a television. The wearable device emits or receives low-power beacon signals; measurements of the signal strength are used to calculate the viewer's distance to the television. If the viewer is close enough to the television and the television is on, the viewer may be engaged with the content on the television. This system is simple, non-intrusive, and can used to measure engagement with each television in a multi-television household.

Abstract: A system for measuring the position of one or more object in an area of interest. The system has one or more portable tag which is attachable to the object and four or more beacons each positioned in separate fixed locations in or near the area of interest, The beacons have a primary beacon function and a secondary beacon function and the portable tag measures the time referenced signal from the beacon using its primary beacon function and the time referenced echo from the beacons using their secondary beacon function to calculate the position of the portable tag with respect to the beacon. A controller switches said beacons between their primary beacon function and their secondary beacon function to create a plurality of calculations of the position of the portable tag.

In some examples, a method performed under control of a mobile device may include receiving, from an access point, a first signal transmitted at a first frequency band; receiving, from the access point, a second signal transmitted at a second frequency band; measuring a difference value between propagation properties of the first signal and the second signal; and identifying whether a propagation path between the mobile device and the access point is line-of-sight or non-line-of-sight based at least in part on the difference value.

Abstract: A system and method for assisting a visually impaired user with navigating an environment.
