摘要: An image forming apparatus for electrostatically transferring a latent image formed on a photoconductive drum or similar image carrier to a recording medium held by a clamp drum or similar medium conveying member. The clamp drum has a cylinder or base made of aluminum, a conductive rubber layer covering the cylinder, and an overcoat layer covering the rubber layer and higher in electric resistance than the rubber layer. A bias voltage for latent image transfer is applied while the rubber layer is connected to ground. The photoconductive drum and clamp drum are pressed against each other by a predetermined force, the former following the rotation of the latter. The photoconductive drum is provided with a photoconductor having a great electrostatic capacity, thereby preventing the effective transfer voltage at the time of image transfer from increasing.

摘要: An image reproducing device in which a photosensitive film cartidge, a transfer sheet cassette and a developer pod receptacle are mounted separately, and a peel-apart type film is used. The kinds of photosensitive film, transfer film and pod are detected to prevent an incorrect combination and to inhibit the operation of the device. In other embodiments, some of the elements are mounted together. The elements are marked with a code which is sensed.

摘要: A device for reproducing an image of an original by using photosensitive material and transfer material for receiving an image formed on the photosensitive material. The original is optionally scanned to produce an optical signal which represents an image of the original, and the photosensitive material is exposed in accordance with the optical signal from the scanner together with the movement of the photosensitive material in synchronization with the scanning. A developer device superposes the exposed photosensitive material on the transfer material and spreads a developer between the superposed photosensitive material and transfer material so as to reproduce the image on the transfer material.

摘要: A peel-apart type instant photographic apparatus using a negative film and a positive sheet. The apparatus has a dark box for developing and accommodating the negative film and positive sheet, or supply, joined together and having a developer spread therebetween. The dark box is removable from the apparatus body and, therefore, easy to clean and handle. When the dark box is not mounted on the apparatus body in predetermined conditions, a printing operation is inhibited to eliminate the waste of negative sheets and positive sheets. A printing operation is also inhibited when the supply is left in the dark box.

摘要: A copier capable of binding copy papers at their center or their edge as desired. A bookbinding device is operatively connected to a paper outlet of the copier. To bind the papers at their center, a folding mechanism of the bookbinding device is activated first in order to form a crease along the center of each copy paper. Then, a binding mechanism of the bookbinding device is activated to sequentially stack the papers in an upwardly convex form and such that the creases face upward in alignment and, then, stitch the papers together along the aligned creases by means of a staple or the like. The bound papers are discharged to a stacking mechanism of the bookbinding device in a developed position so as to be stacked there while being folded double in the creases. When it is desired to duplicate documents on papers which are equal to or double the size of the documents and bind the copies at the center, a positional relationship between the documents and the papers is set up by a unique method.

摘要: An image reproducing device includes a container for storing a strip-like photosensitive material in a condition that the photosensitive material is rolled, the photosensitive material having a mark at a predetermined length from a final end thereof. Rollers pull out the rolled photosensitive material from the container and convey the photosensitive material. A cutter cuts the conveyed photosensitive material into a sheet-like photosensitive sheets one by one. A pair of developing rollers roll the cut photosensitive sheet put together with a transfer sheet between which a developer-containing pod is interposed. A detector detects the marking of the conveyed photosensitive material, and a controller inhibits the cutter from cutting the photosensitive material in a case where the detector detects the mark of the conveyed photosensitive material.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device that includes a heater to heat a fixing rotator, an opposed rotator to press against the fixing rotator to form a fixing nip therebetween, and at least one rotary body to convey a recording medium to the fixing nip. A controller rotates the fixing rotator in a forward direction to fix a toner image on the recording medium. The controller stops the heater and rotates the fixing rotator in a predetermined rotation direction when a failure occurs while the fixing device is activated. The controller determines that the predetermined rotation direction is the forward direction or a backward direction according to the at least one rotary body that sandwiches the recording medium, if the fixing nip and the at least one rotary body sandwich the recording medium simultaneously when the failure occurs while the fixing device is activated.

摘要: A fixing device includes a nip formation pad which is disposed opposite an endless belt and forms a fixing nip between the endless belt and a pressure rotator. A contact heater is disposed at least at one lateral end of the nip formation pad in a longitudinal direction thereof and heats at least one lateral end of the endless belt in an axial direction thereof. A thermal conduction aid contacts a belt-side face of each of the nip formation pad and the contact heater and conducts heat in the axial direction of the endless belt. A cover is disposed outboard from the thermal conduction aid in a longitudinal direction thereof. The cover covers the belt-side face of the contact heater. The contact heater includes a power supply portion disposed outboard from the thermal conduction aid in the longitudinal direction thereof and covered by the cover.

摘要: A fixing device includes an endless belt formed into a loop, a heater to heat the endless belt, a nip formation assembly disposed inside the loop, and a pressure rotator to press against the nip formation assembly to form a fixing nip between the endless belt and the pressure rotator. The nip formation assembly includes a pressure pad and a supplementary thermal conductor to conduct heat from the heater in an axial direction of the endless belt. The supplementary thermal conductor has an edge portion dimensioned to distance the supplementary thermal conductor from the endless belt at an end portion of a face over which the endless belt slides in a longitudinal direction of the supplementary thermal conductor. A distance between the edge portion of the supplementary thermal conductor and the endless belt increases toward an end portion of the endless belt in the axial direction thereof.
