摘要： A fluid sampling device is provided comprising an elongated housing having a longitudinal axis, a plurality of alternating sorbent units and spacer units disposed longitudinally through the housing and slidably movable therethrough along the longitudinal direction, and means for individually and sequentially exposing the sorbent units to a fluid. The adsorbed components can then be desorbed and analyzed to provide composition data of target compounds in a fluid, e.g., a gas, over a period of time.

摘要： The invention comprises a vessel for solid phase micro-extraction chemical sampling. The vessel includes a container having an open end and a cap used to close the open end. The cap has a holder to hold a solid phase coated fiber within an interior of the container. There also is an inlet at a first location of the vessel and an outlet at a second location of the vessel. The inlet and the outlet are adapted to fill the vessel with a material to be exposed to the solid phase coated fiber. The vessel also includes a diffuser plate attached to the container. The plate is adapted to reduce fluid forces exerted on the solid phase coated fiber as material flows from the inlet to the outlet. The purpose of the diffuser plate is both to assure that forces are reduced and to provide laminar flow to assure rapid and complete exchange of the fluid in the vessel.

摘要： A system (100) and method for detecting contaminants in parcels or other mailings (110). The contaminants, either genuine or hoax, are detected using the system (100) that includes a jogger (140) that shakes the parcels or other mailings (110). The system (100) further comprises a particle sampler (170) that analyzes the air flow created over the parcels (110) while the parcels are shaken. The system (100) and method preferable includes a parcel opening cutter (120) and a ram (148) for compressing during the shaking of the parcels. The air flow is sampled in order to detect whether or not a plurality of opened parcels is suspected of including contaminants such as biological threat material.
