    Abstract: The invention relates to a molded article made of a metallic molybdenum-based alloy with at least 3 wt. % up to a maximum of 8 wt. % aluminum, at least 3 wt. % up to a maximum of 6 wt. % titanium and, as the remainder, molybdenum including the usual impurities, wherein the molded article is produced directly or indirectly by means of solidification from a melt. The invention also relates to a method for producing a molded article and to the use of such a molded article.

    Abstract: One aspect relates to a method for a ring electrode, including: providing an outer element with an outer tube and providing a first inner element with a first inner tube having a first core made of a sacrificial material. A material of the outer element and a material of the first inner element have a similar microstructure. A second inner element is provided with a second core made of a sacrificial material; A connection tube is formed by arranging the first inner element and the second inner element within the outer element. The first inner element and the second inner element are arranged concentrically. The composite tube is drawn in a longitudinal direction of the composite tube. The material of the outer element and the material of the first inner element maintain a simialar microstructure. A connection tube disc is seperated from the connection tube. The sacrificial material of the first core is removed and the sacrificial material of the second core is removed to obtain a contacting opening in the ring electrode.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for cutting refractory metals, in which a solid body (1) made of a refractory metal is mechanically machining cut with a cutting apparatus (4, 7), wherein the cutting apparatus (4, 7) is wetted for cutting with a fluid (6) having at least 50 weight % water, wherein the cutting apparatus (4, 7) is brought to a positive electrical potential in relation to the solid body (1) during cutting. The invention also relates to a disc produced from a refractory metal using such a method, and such a disc that has an oxide layer with a thickness of between 2 nm and 1,000 nm on the cutting surface.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparation of the intermetallic compound Nb3Sn by melt metallurgical procedure. The process comprises the steps of pressing Nb particles and Sn particles to form a start electrode, whereby the pressed start electrode is remelted in a vacuum in an electric arc, whereby a first moulded body is obtained. Alternatively, the process comprises the steps of remelting an Nb start electrode in an electric arc in a vacuum, whereby Sn particles are being introduced into the molten Nb forming during the remelting, whereby a first moulded body is obtained. The molar ratio of Nb and Sn is selected appropriately such that the first moulded body obtained contains at least 50% by weight of the intermetallic compound Nb3Sn as the A15 phase as well as free Nb and/or Sn and inevitable impurities, if applicable.
